I like Whistling Wings recommendations: Birds in Flight: Zone focus, Perched Birds: Spot focus, Very Close Birds: Eye Detection On. Also turn auto-level off as that restricts the shutter modes available.

You should disable shoot without card. Also Continuous focus (not servo) will drain your battery very fast because the camera is looking for focus even when you're not pressing the button. I never turn that on.

Thanks for the extra points made. Continuous Focus is always off for me 👍

thanks. can you tell me about inbody image stabilization? After i configured my manual mode, electronic shutter, etc, i d´ont longer have the option for IS inbody image stabilisation. THE ONE THAT YOU HAVE IN THE RED MENU, NR.7 (i had this option when i bought the camera, before i changed configurations). I use a canon 100-400 lens with image stabilisation , and i have IS on lends activated. ¿Is it because when we use lenses with image stabilisation, then the inbody IS, is already on by default, and thats why we don´t see it in the menu? I mention that, when i use another lens, without image stabilisation, then i do have that IS configuration option, in the red menu. thank you again

Hi Mike. I believe its because the IS is always on if the lens has IS built-in. You turn the IS off by using the switch on the lens. Unless it's for video then the option is available again.

Hi Matthew, Where can I set the mode to continuous shooting mode? I'm only getting one shot even though it's in servo.
@mstarling792 жыл бұрын
Hi Lu. I have my R5 set up by using Q button with a square around it (on the back of the camera) this displays a large menu selection on the LCD screen. I then just scroll using one of the wheels or dials to Drive Mode and select high or low speed continuous shooting mode. Hope that helps.

I leave mine on electronic shutter in any mode, ok mechanical is 14 bit umm how are ppl going to see the difference? Most ppl don't have a 14 bit monitor hell most ppl don't have a 10 bit monitor setup.

Thanks for the comment. I guess that's the great thing about mirrorless is we have the options. Using electronic shutter for sure helps prevent wear to the camera.

Yes, but processing software 'cares'.

Can’t take you seriously if you use TV mode. You want to control your shutter speed and aperture. Anyone watching should disregard the advice and use manual with auto iso if you want to use some sort of auto setting. Letting your aperture float can lead to unprofessional unpleasant looking images.

Thanks for the comment. The video is really aimed at amateurs or inexperienced shooters new to wildlife photography. Personally, i shoot using the FV mode but this would be slightly too advanced for newcomers to the Canon system.
