Actually, Canon did make the overheating on the R5 disappear. With the latest firmware, the camera doesn't overheat anymore. You're going to run out of record time or battery before it'll overheat no matter what mode. I used to record in 4k cropped to avoid overheating because it's still a supersampled 4k (5.5k to 4k) but doesn't overheat. But now with the newer firmware, I can do the 4K fine mode (supersampled 8k to 4k) and not worry about overheating.

One thing I would love to see if Kondor Blue would make an updated r5c only dummy battery with 9v 3amp output. Canon makes a special one (DR-E6C DC Coupler) that has the extra voltage output (27watts at 9v/3A) to power the fully 8K60P modes on the r5c. It's a tool I haven't seen any channels discuss and it could be a big help for those needing the higher framerates and don't want to rely on the PD USB-C port. I'm also curious if you tested the newer LP-E6NH vs the older E6N, as it claims to gain 14% more battery life, but I get the impression it's closer to twice the battery life over the E6N since it can output the higher wattage longer. But I haven't found many comparisons online regarding that difference.

The battery life on the 5C is framerate dependant more so then resolution, in 4k/50 I get around 45 mins from an NH battery which is totally fine, if I want it small and lightweight I just keep 4 or 5 NH's in my pocket, but there is a way to get much more standby life out of the internal battery, if you're not shooting just hit the media button and it extends the life significantly.
@ALLTHINGSCINEMA245 ай бұрын

IBIS obsolete? lol I don't know about that! I love using it on my S1H with manual and vintage lenses. I can only see it as an additional tool that you can use when needed. For those times you don't have a rig and you just want to shoot without attracting attention you get with gimbals and shoulder rigs, IBIS definitely comes in handy. Next hybrid camera I buy will definitely need to have IBIS, until then I'm sticking with my S1H.
@mondobytes2 жыл бұрын
I meant it in the filmmaking world. There's a reason why cameras like Arri and RED don't and will probably never have IBIS, it hinders the image. This is why Panasonic came out with the GH5s removing IBIS because of all the filmmakers complaining how it messed up their image.
@alexcristescu86042 жыл бұрын
Canon R5C is not in the same league as Arri and red (maybe Komodo). I'm not a camera scientist but I really like the image that comes out of my S1h, haven't shot on the R5C personally but from what I've seen, its not leaps and bounds ahead of the S1H in terms of image quality so I don't t follow on how IBIS messes up image quality given the S1H has IBIS. Bottom line, the R5C is supposed to be a camera you can just pick up and shoot, for it not to have IBIS makes zero sense. Given Canon's history I wouldn't be surprised if they went this route to sell you more RF lenses with IS.
@mondobytes2 жыл бұрын
@@alexcristescu8604 When you rig a camera up to a car mount, gimbal, shoulder rig, etc if it has IBIS the sensor will always move. In fact take the lens off of your S1H and wiggle the camera and you'll see the sensor move. Even if you turn IBIS off it will still wobble inside giving you unnecessary motion blur or other weird artifacts in your image. It may not be in the same league in terms of image quality but it's still a Cinema camera. It's target audience is filmmakers not KZbinrs, that's what the R5 is for. This is why you also don't have IBIS on the C200, C500 MKII which I've owned and with the C500 MKII I'd say it's in a similar league with RED and ARRI. I've actually talked to Sony engineers and have told them to get rid of IBIS on the FX3 it's not needed. I'd rather have built in ND Filters over IBIS any day. IBIS is cool if you're a vlogger/content creator but if you're shooting something with purpose it's not necessary. Great example is Cam Mackey go check out his channel. He does a ton of run and gun with the R5C and it looks great! Because without IBIS it has a natural look and the motion is more realistic which is why I'm glad Canon left it out. What they should have done is given us a full HDMI that's blasphemy it's 2022 and nobody in their right mind wants micro HDMI. It's ridiculous that even the EOS R had Mini HDMI not that it makes it better but Micro is a step backwards!

Sure, you can easily get these tools with an external monitor, but I don’t always shoot with one. I do like the FX3’s AF and especially the E-mount lenses from sony and 3rd parties. The FX3 with the 24mm GM seems like such a nice combo for gimbal work. Canon has more RF L primes in the works, but I’m assuming they’ll be huge and expensive.

Excelente video Armando como siempre, las mayores criticas a esta cámara tal como mencionas son la poca duración de la batería, la puerto mini hdmi y también el carecer de Clog2. If you instead defended the Blackmagic saying the R5C is just like the Blackmagic, you power them both off your v-mount... But you kinda threw BMPCC under the rug there despite it having the same battery life. Not mentioning the BMPCC6k now has 45-60 minute battery with their NP batteries now.

There is smarter ways to lose money than extra storage space. To my needs, the camera is just overkill in some areas and lacks in others. Lastly, I don't buy the "with some tweeking, it looks like the komodo, so it's a komodo" argument. I am pretty sure with any of the large codec cameras of the last years, even a Panasonic S5 recording BRAW, you could get pretty damn close to the komodo.
