Very informative video about the focusing system. I got my R7 last week and have shot a hockey game and a soccer game so far with subject tracking and eye tracking enabled. For the AF points, I was using the "Expand AF area: Around option". I was shooting at f2.8 indoors. on a 70-200 lens. I found that in many of my images, the focus was on players who were not my subject. Which combo would you suggest I try for fast moving sports where there are many players and I want to single out a specific one? Thank you!

This is a great video. I’m enjoying my R 7 and doing mostly surf photography which is pretty challenging. I`ve got some great photos and have had issues on AF because of wave spray. I also do wildlife photography. Learning the autofocus is very important to learn especially for what I have been shooting.

The eye detection works great with birds and insects, I regularly shoot honey bees and it will pick up the eye great, following birds in flight is no problem, the majority or soft shots are down to me not following the bird fully, fast moving birds like swifts shallows etc are really hard, but it can be done.

Flexible autofocus zone size is not increasing / decreasing when rotating the dial around joystick. instead the zone itself moves left right depending on the rotation. Any idea What am I doing wrong? Also the entire flexible zone size expands to almost the screen size when I try focusing on the things on floor (to test). Can someone please help.

Canon R7 from the day I bought the camera, I have a rear focus button. Is there a problem with operating the mechanical shutter, or do I need to change something? Thank you very much in advance.

What does Subject Tracking enabled do? Isn't AI Servo also tracking the subject too?

Hope this make sense Canon r7 when I go to few my photos I can see the focus pattern,,, it covers my photos and I can't really see my photos Is there a way to not have that show up...

I can not adjust the Flexible focus points on 1,2,3. When you did it, adjusted the focus points. You pushed the cluster button and then use the wheel to adjust the size of the focus points. When I push the cluster button, it goes into Preview photo mode, so therefore the focus point is now gone. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Brian, Go to the the Q-Menu and select the Button Customization menu. Go to your AF Point Button and make sure it is set to "Direct AF Area Select"

​@@WeeBurnip-lz3fryes it's fine but you do have a hit rate miss, if birds are not in flight shoot electronic 1st curtain, if in flight I recommend mechanical shutter. Get to know its strengths and weaknesses. Shoot craw and shoot in short burst so you do not fill the buffer. People forget this is at the cheaper end of cameras. Great little buy.
