Have you tried the RF 24mm 👀 keen to hear your thoughts!
@ghalibsworld27 күн бұрын
I used it with my Canon R10 and now using it with my Canon R8, which is my go-to lens. At F2.2 or 2.8, every photo is super sharp. I also use it for Vlog or Trip-reports.

4:44 This is actually a misconception about digital distortion correction. The original, uncorrected image is wider than 24mm and the final, corrected image has 24mm field of view.

I frequently use the Rf 24 over the 35mm 1.8. While I have the 24-70mm the 24 has been just as sharp. Great lens

@@btecww definitely a great lens!

Loving the images you get out of this 24mm. They are wide of course, but they don't feel crazy wide at first glance. As a Sony+LeicaM user, I was considering getting a Sigma 24/2 or 24/3.5 or a Zeiss M 25/2.8 for a compact wide-angle setup.
@TKNORTHАй бұрын
@@davidluo_photo thanks so much! For me it's certainly the widest I'd go for a prime and still be able to get good use out of it. I think it did take a bit of time to get used to composing at 24 though. But I do like the results and composing wider is a fun skill to practice!

I've been considering this 24mm for over three years but now that the 1.4 version is out, its an even harder choice! Sold my 35mm because i hated the autofocus.

3:43: This. I think people look the total picture, and the subject is interesting to them. I mean, when did you spot someone pixel peeping at a picture? Almost no one does that other than the photographer himself. If you are working in a commercial environment with good paying clients, then yes you should bring the best quality glass to the table. But for most people this does not matter.
@TKNORTHАй бұрын
Yeh I agree! Certainly some settings it can be very important. But not often for the most of us.

I love the XF 16mm F/2.8 and the FE 24mm F/2.8. Those are both great lenses. The slow and loud focusing of the RF 24mm F/1.8 might put me off but the size advantage, IS, and macro capability always make me consider picking it up. I love 24mm way more than 35mm!

what about on an apsc like R10?

I tried the 24mm but I found my home with RF f2.8 28mm lens 😮💨
@TKNORTHАй бұрын
@@1stlegend I just picked this one up too!! I love the 28mm but just find that 1.8 so useful in lowlight, probably more for the video side of things.
@1stlegendАй бұрын
@@TKNORTH yeah I hope canon make a 1.8 for 28mm or have a third party for it 🙏

2:56: Love these Clog3 grades! Do you tend to keep your ISO around the base or slightly overexpose? (I’m finally trying log with my R5 but usually don’t get shadows this clean, even in daylight. Maybe it’s better to grade completely manually instead of using a stock Canon LUT as a starting point, not sure 😂)
@TKNORTHАй бұрын
Thanks so much! I had this same issue when first using clog3. Try to avoid using the exposure meter on clog3 if you can - its not particularly helpful. But I'm often +1 to +2 over but it totally depends on the scene. The histogram will give you a better idea! You can tend to push the highlights quite a lot more than you think before any clipping will occur. This will help those shadows 😊

Also have to say very nice grades. Love the color that comes out of your vids. Do you have any luts for sale similar to your presets ?

I make talking head and product review videos and looking for my first prime lens for my canon r10. Would you recommend the 24mm 1.8 for good lowlight and bokeh?

If you were to buy a camera today for doc/ short form and a travel camera, Would you choose the fx3 of the Canon r5 mark 2. keep up the good content
@TKNORTHАй бұрын
Thats a tough one to answer as they are quite different cameras. The R5 mii wins as a hybrid as its a beast for photos as well. But if only doing video and not taking any photos, a lot would go fx3. I've not used it properly myself to judge!

I just wish canon put rear mount weather gaskets on their inexpensive lenses. Would cost them pennies. Not asking for extensive weather sealing of the whole lens. Just the main ingress point.

FF or APS-C?
@jamesburne3893Ай бұрын
What would be the one to go for ? EF24mm f/1.4 or RF24mm f/1.8?
@TKNORTHАй бұрын
@@jamesburne3893 it sounds like there's potentially an RF 24mm 1.4L coming too so maybe worth considering that as well. EF 1.4 vs RF 1.8 depends a bit. RF for size and weight since you lose the adaptor which is always nice - might still be cheaper VS a second hand EF as well. EF as its 1.4 and L glass maybe wins if image quality is a tad more important to you!
@jamesburne3893Ай бұрын
@@TKNORTH Thanks for the reply 🙏🏻 I agree 24 and 50 is a totally great pairing I have had the EF I think I would buy again over the RF Thanks for the informative video. Really good
