Even though the RF seems to be slightly better optically, I would still prefer the EF version over the RF because of the extending tube of the RF to zoom. I hate that. It takes much more time to zoom with the RF than the EF lens. In sports where actions are short and you need to be really fast to capture them, the RF is no use to me. That might be different for slower action sports and nature or other photography.

The only reason I’d steer towards the rf for me is the focusing distance

I rented the EF version on my R6 and fell in love with the lens. Never used the RF version, would love either lens if I could justify the price for me which photography is just a hobby.

What did you think about the RF vs EF during the motorcycle riding test? Did the RF feel snappier than the EF?

I'm always enjoying your reviews! I was going to keep EOS R as a back up camera. but just sold it. I was spoiled with R5 really quick! Don't want to touch R anymore. :)

I have just recently got my Canon R6 mark ii ( with a Tamron 24-70mm f 2.8 g2) , which means I will be selling off the Canon 70d (with the kit lens 18-135 and my one size fits all Tamron 18-400mm ) . I have done some comparison and will settle for the Canon 70-200 f2.8 ii over the others due to price. I don't think the mark iii and RF are worth the extra $1,000 plus 🤔

Even though the L series lenses are weather-sealed, not sure whether those of us who take care of our gear will leave them in the grass just for the purposes of showing them side by side.
