Canon Sureshot Supreme and Tele battery change

I have this camera I note the lcd screen is showing the battery as full even when the camera is switched off is this normal? Thanks, Chris

After unscrewing the screw, the battery compartment door cannot open, the hinge side get stuck🥲 But your video helps a lot. Its my first time changing battery since I bought this camera 8years ago
