There's nothing that makes my heart sing more than someone who's home is a reflection of their personality, their style and their own handiwork!!! So many people just buy 'generic' homeware because they can't be bothered to curate a home in the way Sherry has and it's so disheartening to see bland houses that aren't actually homey. Kudos to this lovely woman for using all her skills to create a truly one-off home that's cosy, welcoming and fascinating to walk around! WOW! It’s like visiting a Museum where you are engrossed in all the beautiful and interesting objects from every era. You have the EYE for decorating for sure, but your gift is in creating decor from scratch with your imagination and hands. What a God given talent! Your home screams HEART ❤️! What you’ve accomplished behind those exterior walls is amazing. The only thing my eyes drew attention to was the two chairs in the family room. Wouldn’t those blue velvet chairs look fabulous there instead and the old chairs in the dining room? Or reupholster the existing one with blue, red and green fabric that pops? But my big query is…WHO CLEANS THIS HOUSE? Oh my!

One of the things I most appreciate about you is your humility. You gladly share your found treasures with joy. Too many people believe new things carry status. They rush out to purchase the latest fad design. Frankly, it's lazy. When I see your home, I see a woman who spends hours combing through thrift stores, who dreams, and who creates beauty in the most simplest of things. Thank you for the lovely and interesting home tour. My best thrift store find was a 1920 Singer treadle sewing machine. The decals were in perfect condition. All it needed was a good cleaning. I wasn't looking to buy one of these but other people were talking about separating the machine from the cabinet as the cabinet alone is supposedly more valued. I could not bear to think of the sewing machine and cabinet being separated after spending a hundred years together so she came home with me. I even learned how to sew with the treadle. She is from Scotland with thistle decals. Truly beautiful!

What a fantastic find! I'm not at all shy about "street shopping"! 😁 My significant other and I have discovered some amazing things put out for trash in the alleys of our vintage neighborhood! (Most of the homes were constructed in the early 1900s, and we love the amazing architectural details that abound. It was what drew us here.) Happy thrifting, street shopping, curbside collecting, and trash picking to all! 😊

Sherry, First of all, If I knew that you could hear us, I’d be the first to stand up, and initiate a round of applause👏🏼, ( the kind that just keeps going 😊). Oh!, and by the by, I do love your plaid room, there isn’t any room that you showed us, that I don’t like or love! I must admit, for the entirety of the video, I couldn’t look away. There was always something better around the corner, that I would have to stop the Ooos and the Ahhs, from the previous item, to start my Ooos and Ahhs for the next item! 🤣. Your whole home is absolutely lovely! Your taste is superb, and what you do to the items to get to that point, is enviable. There isn’t one room that you have showed, that I wouldn’t feel at home in. In total, while everything in those rooms, makes the rooms what they are, and emit the feelings of lived in comfort, welcomeness, and intrigue, there are sub-currents running beneath it all. At the exact same time, the subtle underlying class, and feelings of the priceless thought and elbow grease put in over a long period of time, to blend many eras and styles together, is what each and every item is softly whispering, and beckoning us, to come take a closer look! There is so much to take in, in every room, but in no way, is it ever too much. I love the fact, that there is at least one item in each room, that takes center stage, and everything else compliments that item, while still holding their own intrigue and special uniqueness, but they are happy not being the star. In doing so, there isn’t anything competing with each other, or screaming loudly, to be recognized. You have put your blood, sweat, and I’m sure at times, there were tears put into your Haven. If you aren’t already, please be proud of yourself, and all that you have accomplished. ….(and will accomplish), because if we know one things about you, you will redo, revamp, update, change, exchange out, and bring in the “almost new”, to give them new lives & new purpose, and you will lovingly do it, with forethought, style, and class. 💜

You didn’t just rescue secondhand decor but took it almost to a level of reverence that these pieces deserve! I have been intentionally collecting for 30 years but really for 40 because I just bought loads from yard sales because I liked them at the time. I used to go to yard sales religiously and often my hubby would chauffeur me around but always stayed in the car…until he saw tools, haha!! The first thing that we bought together was an antique typewriter for $15 and we are both HOOKED! We even started an Etsy store! We fell on some financial hard times and had to sell that first typewriter but it did sell for $300, so it helped greatly. I am LOATHE to sell my treasures now, whether they have monetary or sentimental value makes no difference to me! If I listed a top ten of favorites books would be in the top three!! I love them so much and I enjoy reading them too! I highly recommend one called ‘All This and Heaven Too’. Great addition to your collection and an excellent read! I just adore you, Sherry. You’re one of the best here on KZbin, and I truly mean that!

You asked what is our most precious find? My most precious thing I have is my grandmother's Currier and Ives dishes (the blue ones) . I ate off of them my whole childhood! They are precious to me. But to add to them I found a stack of the matching dishes, cups and saucers and serving pieces at a flea market. I told my husband I have to have every piece. We asked the man how much. He said $2. We thought each item was that price, so we gave him a $100 bill. To our surprise it was $2 for the whole large stack!! He looked at us rather puzzled and said 'don't you have anything smaller? Lol. We were quite happy with that find. So those are added to my grandmother's dishes. I love them!!

I found an ornate frame at the thrift store. I mounted a 24"×36" map of the world on foam core board and put it in the frame. Pushpin mark where family and dear friends live. I will stop and pray as I walk by it. Above it, I framed a Hobby Lobby map of the US colored to indicate where I have lived or visited. On a small shelf, also above the world map, sits a cutting board in the shape of the state where I live. All these create a prayer wall I can see from my most used chair where I read my Bible.

@@CanterburyCottage it all depends on size. My wall faces the door to the master bedroom, but I also face it from my living room chair. When countries are in the news (e.g. Ukraine), I lay my hand over it on the map and pray. People talk about walking around neighborhoods, cities, states or the Capitol and it's buildings to pray. (I did a prayer walk around the Capitol building and prayed around DC while driving the beltway). I say, if you can't go, get a map and let your fingers do the walking.

Thank you so much! I think people either like or hate the fabric walls, but it’s certainly unique!

Love Love Love your home. The word "Charming" just doesn't do it justice. I too have decorated 95% of my home thrifting. Your channel has truly inspired me. It always makes me sad when I see young people going out and spending 1000's on a piece of boring furniture when thrifting, estate sales etc. not only decorate much more interestingly but could save them so much money! Wish I knew this when I was young and broke!

Love your house. You sure have an eye for the unusual. Thanks for sharing. But the work you put into each idem is fantastic. Great job. I don't have your vision when shopping in a thrift store. I have gotten picture frames, but never made one over.

I can see myself watching and pausing that video several times to see everything you have collected and curated. I have loved watching you diy so many things in your home. You have the most unique ideas, there is no way to pick a favorite. The insane asylum clock is so amazing, what a find. Thanks for the fabulous video Sherry!

Love how you pick up items you love as you see them. Sometimes people are in such a hurry to get a room done that they settle for something. You know what your vision is when you see it, you know. Things have a meaning to you. If it didn't truly mean something to you, it wouldn't be as easy for you to remember where you got it, how much you paid for it and when you purchased it.

Sherrie, thanks for the complete home tour! I used to have vintage items that belonged to my mother -in -law that she gave me, and shamefully, I have to admit I got rid of them! I mostly did that because I didn't have guidance from someone like you to guide me! But, I did hang on to a few pieces of artwork and furniture pieces, thank goodness! I've painted the furniture, and it fits well. There was no youtube channel back in the eighties! I am now retired after teaching like yourself 30 years and want my home to be cozy and reflective of my personality. If I can be half as talented as you, I will consider it a success! I'll continue to watch you for inspiration! Thank you, and I'm sorry for the long post!
