What a wonderful husband you have and what a wonderful home. Here on the UK I live in a small but very pretty 17th century flint cottage and like you I love to collect special items!!!. I sometimes think I have over done it but then I watch you and get inspired as to how I can use them in different ways to look less cluttered. Thanks Sherry xxxx My favourite was the coal shuttle I have a repro one which at the moment holds faux flowers but yet again you have inspired me to change it out.😊

Great town, loved the school antique store. Bay City Michigan has a wonderful antique mall on an entire city block and 3 floors. I bought many lovely things when I lived there. The bargain basement was my favorite, where I purchased an ugly painted Bunting glider. I also found 3 pieces of wrought iron fence from a cemetery or church-yard. I love the sugar cannisters and the clock with the ceramic bird. Thank you for taking us along on such a wonderful trip. At those prices, I better keep all my old boards! So many interesting things, I will have to rewatch sometime to see what I missed. TFS

Super sweet husband! Bookends match your framed print so well. Ulysses S. Grants bed was so beautiful, love the turned wood, I didn't care for his wallpaper though. Dandelion cruel art was nice. I saw a green lamp during your antique mall tour that I liked, it had two round glass globe shades. Not weird to have to fruit prints close together in your kitchen. Love the utensils in the sugar crock. The mini Victrola was meant for you to find. Asking $30 for an old board? Cheaper to pull discarded wood from a dumpster when an old home is being torn down.

WOW, I loved this video. That town and antique store blew me away. If those pieces could tell their story, what an incredible tale they would spin. I love going back in time to a simpler style of living. If they decorated their store like you do your home, they’d sell out in record time. A person could visit your home and spend hours memorized in your pieces. I also have those books about Abraham Lincoln by Carl Sandburg and one is signed. Trying to find out their value. Any ideas?

Thank you Sherry for taking us along. I was born in Illinois in Elgin. Lived in many of towns till I was 5 or 6. I do remember my daddy always taking the train into Chicago for work. I haven’t been back to Illinois in many years. I think the last time I was 12 to visit my grandparents. They lived at the time in Arlington Heights. I certainly wouldn’t mind going back just to visit those antique stores 😀. I just love to go to those kind of stores. I vision in my head of how those people who once owned like that needle point chair or at that beautiful sofa n the conversations spinning around the room. Or seeing that tea pot n the hostess serving them tea in her new China cups. I could go on n on of all I would see in my head. You found some great pieces but I have to say I too love the book ends. How sweet your husband was in getting them for you. He knew how much you loved them n how disappointed you were when you got home n they weren’t there. He’s a keeper 😊. Really enjoyed the video. I had a lot of wishful thinking of what I would of loved to have. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟

I'm a new fan and have been introducing you to my friends! You remind me of my friend Ellen; I told her your videos are so beautiful and inspirational, but I spend a lot of time trying to read the titles of your classic books! Ellen is a retired English teacher as well, and I mentioned that I had never heard the term "dark academia" which I heard on another recent video of yours. Just shows that there's always more to learn! When you used the word "kismet" in your Ugly Christmas video, I called her and said, "She used the word "kismet! I'll send you the link!!" Not that the people in my life are idiots, but it takes a genteel person to understand kismet and use it in a sentence! Polite society is hard to come by these days. Thank you for sharing your time and your talents; I LOVED this video and getting to see other areas of your home. One question though, "Do you ever COOK on that stove!"

I went to school in the 60's and early 70's and the hard wood floors were the same. The gymnasium floors were so shiny and we had wooden bleachers to watch the games. Antiques were such a part of my home life as my parents owned a store. My Mom had a small room for her crafts like the beaded handbags. Suede vests with fringe beaded and so long. It was the hippy ear, woodstock and all. Getting to your treasued things that you bought. My favorite is the photo of Lincoln and I love how you styled it all. Thank you for sharing this Sherry. It really was very special. Hope to see another one.

I love Galena! I've been many times... always in the fall, when they have their craft sale in the park. I'm older now, but I would love to go back. I'm a needleworker, so my favorite is the needlepoint you saved and hung on your staircase. That's for sharing and bringing back great memories.

I looked it up because I wanted to know..."Barkcloth in its original, primitive form was made from the inner bark of trees found in the South Pacific and surrounding areas. The bark was soaked, then beaten into a paperlike fabric which was then dyed, printed or painted."

I love how you cut the book jacket apart to put Lincoln's picture in a frame. The bookends are precious and your husband is wonderful to get them for you. The display you showed with the antique clock frame and the ceramic bird is wonderful. As I go out thrifting, I'm always on the lookout for clocks that I can repurpose into displays the way you have. I have purchased some wall clocks recently that are round. Since round frames seem to be all the rage, it's easy to put either your own creation or other pictures into the round frames Thanks so much for sharing.

How awesome to have a husband who knows how important those bookends are to you; and found a way to bring them to your home where they can be showcased in such a lovely way. The Lincoln frame looks fabulous on the Lincoln shelf. I loved the tour of Grant's home at the end. Thank you for doing that. Your kitchen looks amazing, never stop styling, you never know what will happen!!

I’ve been watching your videos from the beginning and always thought we have the same clothing style. Imagine my surprise when I wore the exact green dress and boho blue shirt this week. What a coincidence! I look forward to your video every week! Keep the inspiration coming.

What a beautiful video! I almost felt like I was there with you. Thank you for sharing and taking such thoughtful videos. Your hubby is such a gem. I couldn’t get mine to spend an entire day at an antique mall. I would be lucky to get an hour out of him. Lol. My hubby is a gem too, just not one that wants to go thrifting with me! ❤

Ohhh. Each time I see your videos I wish I had somewhere to store pieces that I wouldn't like to " get rid of". Unfortunately I have a smaller bungalow, with an attic that is likely to come crashing down because of my daughter's belongings that she doesn't want to get rid of.😢. I want to buy so many of the pieces that you buy. I do have two bags in the attic that my husband's cousin gave him. There are lots of those little brass ornaments and other really old bits and bobs in the bags. There is a tea cannister which has the commenaration of the wedding of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Looking at your haul. Maybe I should look at other pieces in the bags in a different way. Thanks for all of your inspiration. The town you visited is really beautiful. It was like stepping back in time. It is so good to see that throughout time the inhabitants of the town knew the value in keeping the town in tip top condition.

I, too, loved the bookends; my poor bookcases are so loaded with books, I seldom have room for them! I loved all your treasures and enjoyed seeing how you styled them! I smiled when I noticed you dusting the mantle as you rearranged stuff--the best way to do it in my opinion! Your husband is definitely a keeper; give him a big hug from all of us who appreciate his thoughtfulness!

I love your hubby!! What a sweetheart! It was so fun to see you place your new items-you have a knack (sp?) for that. I change something in my decor almost daily-I loved the bird in the clock-will have to try that!

So beautiful, Sherry. Illinois has to be one of the best states for entire towns dedicated to Antique shops, cute cafes and B&Bs. We lived in Rantoul for eight years. I love the way you theme your book shelves. The Abe Lincoln shelf is so cute and celebrates history thru art. Thanks for taking us along on your fun trip.

We live close enough to Galena to visit, and our favorite time to go is in the fall. It's gorgeous! It was fun to shop along with you! Your husband was so thoughtful to get those book ends shipped to you! They were my favorite and look perfect where you placed them!! 😊

Weird? Well, if it is then I'm weird too! I have two fruit paintings hanging in my kitchen too. My favorite is also the bookends, what a great guy you've got there! Last year I watched a video featuring an antique mall in Washington state. One of the booths had a Gorgeous Daffodil painting hanging in it. Luckily for me the videographer had identified the store and I was able to find them online. I paid for that painting over the phone, as well as shipping and they kindly shipped it to me. It's one of my favorite pieces of art.

I drove through Galena once with two of my sisters. We didnt have time for sightseeig though. I do remember driving past Grant's home. 😊. It's beautiful from the outside and can only imagine the inside. Blue and white pieces are my all time favorite to decorate and use in my home. I would have picked up that ton in a heartbeat no matter how much I already have. Love how you used all of your finds
