Girl's need boundaries, with constantly riding Stella, she's your horse, they have theirs now, it's time mumma you put your foot down. I mean this with no disrespect, towards you as parents but it's time for you to shine on Stella as it's been about getting the girls so far, some times parents are allowed to shine to once in awhile , ❤️

If you had a mounting block built it would be easy to train her to side step for mounting...she is highly intelligent. She trusted you in this to cause no harm now girlfriend trust her. your girls are so lovely and caring, I get that gabby may come across as bossy or overstep sometimes but she does it with the best intentions and never means to upset anyone people need to think about what they comment. Laura your doing amazing and as you said in the video you didnt mind gabby riding her first as you were understandably a bit nervous. both of your methods would have been fine so you didnt need gabby to help but its nice that she wants to. then sam was right and asked her to go get her horse which she did and this shows that she does have boundries and respect and that perhaps she just didnt realise that you was ready to be left yet she is only 12 after all.

What an exciting trip!! I feel super jealous LOL! I have to say, as an adult (mom and nurse), I get irritated for you when Gabby nags at you while you’re trying to ride your horse. (Sophie too but to a much lesser degree). That whole "just let me do it," kind of thing that is incredibly annoying and I'm not even there!! I say this because I can see that is all too easy for you, Laura, to just say, “ok well Gabby said whatever, so I’ll just let her do it.". The longer that type of thinking continues, the longer it will be to build back your confidence in the saddle. You're not building Gabby's confidence here, it's clear she has enough, you're building up yours! SOOOO, GOOD FOR YOU SAM!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I nearly stood up and cheered when he shooed Gabby off of you so you could just ride Stella and have fun!!!!!!! I don’t mean to sound as though I am negative about Gabby, obviously, but she’s overflowing with confidence and that doesn’t help you. I feel like other people are seeing this as well, so it’s not just me. You have got to get your butt in that saddle, if you are ever going to stop this whole “I’m too scared” kind of stuff and just do!!!!! Hop on bareback with a halter and lead on and walk around that indoor arena a couple times everyday!! It’s time actually IN that saddle, on the horse, that will get you out of the “I can’t, I’m scared” thinking! Push yourself!! You’re more dangerous in that saddle acting scared and afraid because horses will pick up on it.

Laura, tips for riding western: 1. Loosen up on the reins a bit 2. When trotting just flow with the horse dont go up and down like that 3. When cantering LOPING really flow with the horse and move your hips try not to go up and down so abruptly, remember it's a western saddle you gotta sit back

Go Laura!! You where doing amazing!!! You have made so much progress since your fall, your not even the same person! Your not the most amazing rider, your not a world class eventer or show jumper, and no one expects you to be! but you have been making progress! That’s how riding works. Some people need to take small steps, but small little steps eventually equal to a mile! Just strive for 1% better every day and soon you will be at 100%! But I do need to say Laura, I understand Stella is all your family’s horse, but you do need a horse for yourself, gabby has storm, Sophie has Finn, Stella needs to be Laura’s. Don’t get me wrong here I’m not saying completely hog her, share her with everyone, butttt, at the end of the day she is your horse, you need to be the one riding her and working with her and creating a bond, somtimes the girls love Stella so so much they kind of push you away, not intentionally, but if you watch it does happen. Try spending more time with Stella, get your own stuff for her, and ride her more often, you would enjoy it! Remember the girls have there own horses and ponies so you deserve yours too! I would let gabby keep training her tho!! One day Laura you and Stella will be an amazing team of you keep working at it!! Also are you looking forward to your horse show on the 14th? I am!! My show is on that day too remember, but there is a slight problem, my horse is hurt so hopefully he will be better by next week! Sorry for the long comment, hope y’all have a great day/night! I bet Stella has really surprised you after this trip from when she was at the first two barns. She really turned out to be the horse you hoped she would have been for Sophia. Her soul and character are just amazing and that can’t be trained. Sophia and Finn killed it out there. I think when she is left to figure it out at the walk and is able to concentrate at a slower level, she thrives. If you put some of this trail work stuff at your farm, Finn will enjoy it and he will be able to trust Sophia as a rider and leader more and more. Sometimes some of the best training is done doing good quality exercises at the walk. Now you all just need to be shown how to access your core muscles (the entire group of muscles that support you over the horse’s center of balance) stabilizing muscles and how to use the lower back as a shock/movement absorber to stay in the saddle and ride with the coveted independent seat and other aids. This will help EVERYTHING be smoother and the horses with thank you with willingness. GREAT JOB LAURA AND SOPHIA!!
