Chanticleer's profundo Eric Alatorre sustains an amazing F#1 after 9:30 on this live performance of Jaakko Mäntyjärvi's (b. 1963) "Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae".

2:45 What an insane chord progression, what otherworldly tightness in the performance. To call this sound rich would be an insult. Amazing perfomance. Also the chord progression at around 9 minutes...just made me cry. Otherworldly sound.

I was once told that the definition of insanity was repeating the same task over and over but expecting a different result. After hearing that F#1, I now have a new definition. Wow.

Our school’s choir is doing this song for our end of the year concert. It’s hard piece but it’ll be worth it in the end...

It's been some time, but how did it go? Do you have a recording of the concert?

Every time I hear this song done by any other choir I expect a low harmony note... And am disapointed when I don't hear one. :P

Some people can hit F#1. But 15 seconds!? That is ridiculous!

Okay, F#1 is impressive, but man, that C2 at 5:00! So fat and bassy. The fattest sound I've heard.

5 feet tall, 300 pounds, PHAT. The John Sutko video on this channel at 2:34 has fat resonance as well

The song itself is beautiful but it's backstory not so much. If you know the story the different sounds of the song also make more sense.
