If you're thinking: "I want these vegetables to look/feel/taste like meat" you WILL be disappointed, it's impossible. Instead, try thinking: "I want these vegetables to taste good!" You'd be surprised how creative people can get, taste/quality is VERY dependent on the chef.
@rylenstuffsv2 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think that's fair, don't look at it with that mindset. It'll only disappoint you, think of it with great respect for the chefs who tried to make it taste good when you're going vegan if you were a meat eater before thus

See the thing is, I love veggies but only in certain ways. I cannot stand salads because of the texture on them. It'd be impossible for me to be vegan. But I adore things like Roast Dinner and I always eat the veggies and potato before the meat. Veggies can taste amazing. Schools just don't do a good job of making them taste amazing, giving us a huge fear of them and ehe stigma that they're bland.

This was a very unexpected video and I was afraid of the outcome, but this was nice! I'm also Chinese and have been vegan for over 4 years. It's not difficult at all but it definitely is a lifestyle dedicated towards the environment or animals etc. I find often homecooked food (no matter if vegan or not) is way better than what you can buy outside. Maybe you can try going gluten free for a week? I'd be so interested

It’s because the subcontinent has millennia of history in making specifically vegetarian and vegan cuisine for socioreligious, disciplinary and health reasons. When you do something for that long, it evolves into its own thing. I grew up as a complete vegetarian, and I still am to this day. As far as what you had, it was most likely a mix of food. Most vegetarian Indian food is vegan as well if it doesn’t use milk products. So, something like paneer would not be vegan. Paneer is like tofu, which is vegan, but made with milk instead of soy. South Indian cuisine is also loaded with amazing vegetarian dishes.

I'm stoked you guys did a vegan video! I would totally suggest doing this again, but asking the vegan community for some suggestions/cult favourites. I'm a vegan filipino (which if you know anyone filipino, our food is basically meat on meat on meat) but find that Toronto is a mecca for vegan food! Bring me some for vegan chickun (in Hamilton, but the same owners also have a vegan 'butcher'), Kiln and Pai offers vegan options (including a vegan khao soi), there's a vegan-only viet restaurant called Viet Chay Vegan, Honey's Ice Cream, Bellona, and what feels like new places opening up all the time.

if you want a good vegan burrito you can literally just go to chipotle or most buritto places and get the veg/tofu one fresh is an ok restaurant, but there are way better places to eat in toronto i suggest guerilla burger or soy boys for a good vegan burger i'm happy you guys went to tenon! that's probably the best vegan sushi spot i know of a great viet resto is saigon lotus which is in kensington market - their pho might not have the meatiness but it's got such a delicious and clear flavour that i don't know how else to describe korean food is tough but if you know what to ask for, you can always have some kind of option at restaurants like bibimbap with tofu instead or soft tofu soup with veg broth as for chinese food, greens vegetarian restaurant and buddha's vegan restaurant also in the kensington area are solid choices as for reasons for going vegan, there are many and while it is a commitment, the reason why is always what keeps us going thanks for eating vegan food and i'm happy you enjoyed it

There is a lot of misconceptions about vegan food. Like the only thing your allowed to eat is salads and fruit. Which is obviously not true. There are a lot of foods that are vegan that most people already eat. Such as hummus, salsa, guacamole just to name a few. Being vegan doesn't mean that you can eat well. It's just about substitutions and finding things that are similar to the foods that we use to eat. Although obviously it's not always going to be spot on but close enough is good enough for most people. Plus we can have peace of mind that no animals were harmed.
