Excellent stuff Amanda. Well done, very simple to follow and understand. I came to the comments to see if anyone was commenting and being bit anal and “politically correct” with including gender identity ie, trans, non-binary etc., as it’s such a “hot topic” just now. None yet! Well done.

Hello, I’m a bit confused about whether 人 is jan4 or jan2. Are there any specific cases when it’s one or the other? Cheers
@5minutecantoneseКүн бұрын
For man and woman. it's definitely jan2. 男人, 女人 For the rest, you can simply use jan4.

Hi Amanda, Just find your style so exhilarating and refreshing. I would like to buy the lessons but the trouble is I don't trust Patreon; maybe just me but is there any other way?
@5minutecantonese2 жыл бұрын
Hi Howard, thank you very much for your compliments. Unfortunately, currently Patreon is my only platform for uploading worksheets and audio exercises. I suggest you can visit the sample lesson by the link I provided below. it's free anyway and no personal information is needed. www.patreon.com/5minutecantonese?filters[tag]=Happy100th%20Free%20worksheet If you like it. You may try the 2 dollars option to assess the first 10 episodes to see if you like the audio exercises and decide whether you wanna upgrade, snd you can unsubscribe any time. Personally, I think it's safe. But if you have doubts. I understand. 😃 Thank you very much 😊 once again.

I will risk it because you deserve support. By the way I live in HK. I used to regularly fly CX on biz trips twice a month...I am so sorry. Oh thanks for using traditional English for spelling UK :)

Most hongkong pronounce n as l as in laam 男,neoi 女
@5minutecantonese2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's very common that we pronunce it with "l" as we learn by listening and we only read the chinese character(without jyutping) in the school. Many people will call it "lazy tone" but it's actually not lazy in my opinion. They just don't know. 😁 So, it's important to promote romanization system.

But for us its like male for lam and women for loi 🤪
