I canned my meat with potatoes, carrots and onions as well as the meat only. Our favorite is the stew and 2nd with noodles over mashed potatoes. Any leftovers goes to hot beef sandwiches with mash potatoes and gravy! Loved to can, thank you for all your great videos. One more thing I forgot to mention is for juice over the meat to can I use beef broth, yummy!

i know I'm six months late, but that stew sounds yummy. Did you put the potatoes and other things in same jar as the meat?

I've been canning meat for only 3 years, now. I learned it here on KZbin. Thank goodness! Where has it been all my life? It's so awesome and it makes a quick, healthy meal so much easier. Thanks for doing Canuary. I cannot believe there's a company out there still willing to give many of us the opportunity to try their products free! It's very nice.

I canned with my mom and grandma when I was young, but working more than full time, having two kiddos (one special needs) didn't leave me with time or energy to can for way too many years. My kids are getting older and I have more help now, so I am excited to get back to preserving our food by canning. Such a perfect time with it being Canuary! Thanks for hosting such a great event!

I am so glad to have gone back and found these recipes for your stew and your roast although I do my stew very very differently because I make it my grandma's way plus one edition that she loved when I added and that was diced or whole peeled tomatoes. The one blessing that I have is our butcher at our local store happens to love me and love my food and calls me mom so when I want to make stew he cuts up chuck roast when it's on sale for me so that it's super tender. It's what my grandma did it's what I still do. I strongly advise investing in some Lawry's seasoned salt. It was my grandma's preferred salt when she made stews soups and roasts go to this day that is what I still use that and freshly ground pepper. Please trust me I understand seasonings incredibly well but that is the tradition and preferred flavor in our family and I suggest you try it. Although I've not ventured into the canning but I cook a lot I have learned that as many of recipes that I have come up with or adapted because I'm seriously disabled there are some that you just need to do the old way to get that amazing comfort food.
