If NJ can pull off a trade for Meier, they would definitely have a nasty top 6 situation happening, but they would still need to get some reliable secondary scoring as well as more grit in the bottom 6. Meier being step one, however, would be one hell of a great start. He won't be a cheap contract extension (neither will Bratt, who also needs to be signed), but with several players coming off the books at the end of the season, the Devils could make this happen. I don't see Johnsson being part of the deal, though. I could see Foote being a part of it, instead.

Devils don't need an expensive 3C, they need a sniper winger. Horvat more likely to go to the Canes or the Avs. Some really dark horses include Winnipeg, St Louis, Detroit, and Columbus. If Devils can't get Meier, then try for Tarasenko.

I've never seen Horvat as anything other than a hardworking pro who has gotten better every year. Some contending teams may look for defenceman, some wingers but depth down the middle is always something any team wants to improve for the playoffs. A goal scoring centre who is good on faceoffs is always valuable. I see Carolina , who has the cap with Pacuretti out for the season and his 7 million contract off the books next year as a possible trade partner for Bo. I also wonder what Boston, Tampa, or Toronto might do to prevent a competitor from getting him.

The only player from the Canucks that makes sense for the devils is the player that the Canucks refuse to trade. Meier makes the most sense. He's going to be costly.

Tocchet was an awful player that gambled on the sports and almost faced jailtime. So yeah, his overall IQ/common sense is very low, to non-existing. This was a horrible move by the Canucks.

I do not want to give up on Holtz. I’d rather Trade Damon Severson, or Blackwood. ohkutiouk, exc. Alex Holtz will be really good, the devils need to be patient with him and allow him to play in the top 6 and on the PP

Blackwood is possible part of a deal. Sharks might trade Reimer at the deadline to a contender looking for better back up goalie. Sharks will want Holtz. If Devils want Meier bad enough, they have to give up good quality, or no deal.

Depends honestly. I don't wanna say they will for sure. Since nothing is a given........But this the Canucks were talking about. So I'll say there is an 80% chance they mess up again lol. However, the Devils are really interested in Horvat and really want to reach some type of deal. Let's face it, Horvat doesn't want to be there either. Once your linked to trade rumors for the past few years. You kinda lose motivation to wanna play for that team. Horvat is having a breakout season, due to him becoming a UFA after this season. SO the smart move would be to get something for him, before he just straight up walks out the doors after this season.

Personally I wouldn’t try and get Bo Horvat maybe it’s just me but the fact he wants a lot of money as an extension and it’s not a 100% fact that who ever gets Bo can sign him but also the fact that this season his production is like this doesn’t mean he will be like this next season and so on. I see Bo as a rental pick up so a 1st rounder a B tier prospect!

Great video man! Timo is indeed our #1 target, definitely over Horvat, keep in mind we traded the very draft pick Vancouver used to take Horvat for Corey Schneider! Meier has been on our radar for years, and is in fact who the Devils were considering drafting over Zacha in 2015. Holtz, Bahl/Johnsson, 1st rd pick as I don't see SJ trading Meier without adding a 1st especially if they're taking Johnsson of our hands.

@@rey_the_savage you have to give to get. The op idea isn't enough, this counter is even less than that. SJ doesn't want UFA's and older players, they make a Meier trade to get YOUNGER. They'll want a top prospect, a young roster player, and a 1st at minimum.

That is the concern, that Horvat is not normally over 60 points, so is he worth 8.5M? I like him, but don't think so. Still, there will be a half dozen teams ready to take him on. I think he goes to the Avs, Canucks take Girard, 1st round pick, and a prospect.
