The play-in is such a bad idea. You have 82 games to play in. Giving some team that wasn't good enough a another chance to be in playoffs by taking away that chance that a team has earned over a 82 game season.

Maybe the difference between the 90-91 and 91-92 Canucks teams is an example of a major turnaround? 90-91 the record was 28-41-9, 4th in Smythe 91-92 the record was 42-26-12, 1st in Smythe? Pat Quinn won the Jack Adams for the 91-92 season, Bure's Calder season, and I remember how remarkable the team was one season over the other.

We should celebrate the regular season achievement however teams that are new to the playoffs rarely go all the way. Playoff hockey is so different and if you look at past history most champions have had to learn to pay the price of what takes to make it to the finals. I feel a decent run this year would be considered a major success.

the game does not need a play in! The last half of the season has been weaker for the Canucks and all we have heard over and over is "if you would have asked me at the start of the season" crap as excuses, and now its the playoffs excuse.
