McCabe traded for No.4 overall 1999 which eventually became Daniel Sedin and retired Bertuzzi traded to FLA for Luongo whom after nearly a decade traded back to FLA for Markstrom. He left VAN as UFA in 2020. The Linden trade tree spanned over 22 years, 1998 to 2020. Linden trade made 2011 cup run possible and beyond. Cannot think of any trade in NHL history having such an impact and going so long.

I can think of at least two: The Eric Lindros trade landed Forsberg and Roy in Colorado, made possible two Cups. This one is even worse - the Cam Neely and Glen Wesley trade to Boston later led to Lucic, Horton, and a few others on the Bruins winning the Cup in 2011. Later, they acquired two more draft picks, and remained a force, returning to the Cup finals in 2019 (although they lost). Had they not made this trade, the Canucks would have won a Cup instead - and earlier than 2011 (more like in 1993).

The irony of Keenan talking about the player that Trevor was in the 94 Cup Run vs what he was in 1998, while not mentioning how bad Messier had become over the same amount of time. Messier floated and poached in Vancouver, wracked up easy points to make his stats look good, did no work, never stood up for teammates on the ice.... It turned out to be a good trade, but the team was awful in the Keenan years, unwatchable from a hockey perspective.

Not to mention how a player plays in the Stanley cup finals should not be the expected effort in a regular season where the team sucks

A fantastic trade, tough at the time but Linden came back and that’s when the city truly fell in love, his return was epic

This is an incredible video thanks for putting this up. Do you have any clips of Pavel bure from the 90s? or of the Canucks 94 run

Great trade but as a kid this was deviating, I lost my favourite player just heartbroken.

God, Mike Keenan was an absolute train wreck of a coach. I think every player he's ever coached hated playing for him.

Lots of players said he was the dumbest coach they ever played for. Him and Messier were the two worst ever to be in the Canucks organization. Never won shit.

Who was the worst Canucks head coach in the past 25 years. Keenan or Torts?

Keenan by a mile. Torts was fine.

Torts didn't 'mess up' the team itself like Keenan, he was just a crappy coach.

Funny how McCabe was the centerpiece the Canucks wanted in the trade, only to get dealt for the pieces to get one of the Sedins and Bertuzzi was the throw in. Of course both players the Canucks received ended up having great careers while Milbury begins his list of trading infamy.

>smartest canucks trade ever; got bertuzzi & mccabe (latter of which was packaged into the 1999 draft-day trade to chicago; so canucks' could get 2nd + 3rd overall picks = daniel / henrik sedin ...years later, canucks would claim Linden back on waivers anyway, so he could finish his career as a canuck

They traded a first round pick for the 2002 draft(Boyd Gordon) in 2001 to get Linden back. Needless to say Linden>Gordon.
