I have Stoic 3 for almost year and half, and I love it. I spent on it 360 hours during 5250km with uphill about 100km 👍 It is a great universal bike.

Nice review! I have the Stoic 4 and rode it hard and often on various difficulty trails here in Michigan over the summer/fall. The bike is tough and fun!

Great video! I have had the same bike for 4 months now and I agree that it feels great. Actually even more better now having switched a 50mm riserbar on it. I'll get scared before the bike does whilst doing sketchy trails😂😂. Enjoy the rides!
@MTBs Жыл бұрын
Yes, the stack height is not very high so a riserbar makes sense! 👍

I’ve got the Stoic 4 in Singapore. Ridden for only about 100kms. Love the frame Geo/feel, great fork/ tires etc. only downside I’ve had is the poor NX derailer, nothing but trouble. Been to the bike shop twice to get it tuned to shift well but when you take it for a ride it falls apart. It’s the clutch that lets it down. Super floppy chain and gets mashed, throws off the chain, skips gears in the higher range. Makes it unridable untiI get it fixed or upgraded.
@MTBs Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Yes, great bike but NX on a hardtail may not be my first choice either. The clutch is as you say pretty weak, but you can tighten it a bit with an allen key if you haven't already. You can also try to shorten the chain and fit a chain guide to prevent the chain to come loose. I have personally never had any shifting issues with any NX drivetrain I've tested. GX retains the adjustments better though. Loctite on the adjustment screws? Last resort would be to upgrade to a GX derailleur which is a clear step up in quality and it's got a stronger clutch. You're still stuck with the hub/cassette combo though if you're not prepared to swap the rear wheel too. NX use a HG freehub and GX a XD. I would say that shifting wise it doesn't matter if you run a NX hub/cassette, but the NX cassettes are heavier, wear faster and have a slightly lower max range (10/50 vs 10/52). Hope you get the shifting sorted!

hii, i am a bit late but hopefully you can help out. this bike is on sale and my height is 183,5cm and my inseem 88cm, should i go for the large or medium? i am at the top end of Medium and i like my reach at 51cm with stem included. thank for helping out
@MTBs2 ай бұрын
Hi! That’s very difficult to say. I’m perfectly happy with size large (185 cm) and I haven’t tested size medium. In your case I’d guess you can fit on both bikes. It’s more a question around stability vs nimbleness.
@AIK.18916 ай бұрын
@MTBs6 ай бұрын

Great video. One question: do you prefer this Stoic over the Specialized Fuse you also tested? If so, why? I'm in between these two bikes. Thank you.
@MTBs Жыл бұрын
Ahhh, that’s difficult to answer. Great bikes, both of them! Spec for money, Stoic wins over Fuse. Fuse has got a nice frame though with fully internal routed cables, a proper chainstay protector and an adjustable chainstay. The Stoic is probably the rowdier of the 2, it’s longer and slacker BUT it is also lower in the front end. If I couldn’t find a very good deal on the Fuse I would probably go for the Stoic because it suits my sketchy trails a bit more and I like an enduro focused bike with good tyres and a longer reach. The Stoic in size L fits me perfectly. Fuse in L is a bit too short.

Could you add a link to the front light you are using here? At least it looks quite nice in design. Hopefully it works as nice as it looks. But until now I only could find ugly lights I do not like to attach to my bike 🤣😭🤣

I live south of Malmö...and you know how flat it is here...this or the cannondale scalpel carbon 2 SE for 2x the money?
@MTBs Жыл бұрын
Yup, I have lived down there and it's definitely flat! The Stoic and the Scalpel are two completely different bikes. Since you will probably ride on mostly flat surfaces I think a XC bike is a good option though. If you wish to compare with a Canyon bike I would take a closer look at Canyon's XC range instead, like the LUX World Cup CF for example.

I had always heard the stoic was heavy and weighed like 33 34 pounds but he measured it out to be 30.something any ideas?
@MTBs Жыл бұрын
Which Stoic? Usually it's the wheels/tyres, fork and sometimes cassettes that makes the most different in weight.

Hi! Is it a HG shimano freehub or Sram XD?
@MTBs Жыл бұрын
Hi! Since the cassette is SX it is most likely a HG "freehub body", same as for NX cassettes. SRAM's XD freehub body fits GX, X01 and XX1 cassettes. You can still upgrade to e g a GX derailleur on this bike if you prefer that drivetrain, but you are stuck with HG cassettes if you don't upgrade your rear wheel too.
@Cobrass2 Жыл бұрын
@@MTBs On their website in the All components list, it says DT Swiss M1900 XD, i have also emailed them the same question and they said its an XD hub body, so im quite unsure how is it possible to have an SX casssette with an XD body on. I want to upgrade all the gearing to atleast an GX and wish it was an XD :)

How would it stand against an XC HT on a forest trail?

It will not beat a XC bike on "Cykelvasan" if that was your question. But this is a great allrounder bike that will not stop when it gets scary.

@@MTBs Well, no diden't expect that. The question is where do they meet? Where do they perform equally and when does one out perform the other? :)

When you are flying over the handlebar on your XC bike, that's when you know. 😂 Just messing with you, I think you will have more fun with this bike on a "normal" trail but a XC bike should be faster. When a trail turns blue/red this is the bike you want/need.
