It’s been amazing to join you on this journey. To think you started your weight wheenie journey with a smaller saddle bag and now here we are under 6.8 WITHOUT pedals and computer mount! I’m contemplating what bike to add to my stable next now that I’ve had my alloy gravel bike for a while and added a commuter/mtb ebike recently. Definitely needs to be a full on carbon road bike but the decision between light weight or aero is hard! Even if it’s only a couple hundred grams or under 1 kg difference. I’ve never rode up mountains and everything within 60 miles is just rolling terrain but I still dream of taking a bike to the mountains nearby one day

It's great to have something on the bike that is such a work of art it draws the eye as you walk past. Very rewarding. Next time you change the steering head bearings, or maybe on the next wet day, pop the seals off and pack them really full of grease b4 you refit the seals. There is so very very little movement in them that heavy heavy grease load doesn't matter. Will greatly extend the life....
@fede12753 ай бұрын
You are right. I use Acros grease that they send with the bearings, but I should re-grease more often

If you can find a set of the previous generation dura-ace 9000 levers 2nd hand you can drop another 140gr. The crank is good because it can't crack, but you can drop weight by using duraace/ultegra chainrings on it (from a cracked crank perhaps - cheap😊). Also you'll be able to shift much more confidently than on a third party chainring. The handlebars can be swapped to lose an insane amount of weight. Maybe up to 250gr, if you try bontrager xxx or pardus variants (bars +stem = 220gr, and the price isn't crazy like with Darimo.) Hey, you still aren't riding Campagnolo Bora Red brake pads and so you're definitely losing around 20-30% of brake force. Sure they might be a smidge tougher on the rims but rims last tens of thousands of kilometers anyway.
@fede12753 ай бұрын
Great advice, I was looking at DA levers before splashing out on the brakes! Braking with the Winspace pads is great, but I always wanted to try the Campagnolo red ones. For Canyon there is a little less choice for the bars, due to the 1 1/4 steerer, but I could find something later on
@myxti36693 ай бұрын
@@fede1275 Definitely worth to experiment with the brake pads, leads to a huge difference in quality of braking. I would also highly recommend switching your outers to something like Jaqwire elite link cable housing for the brakes. Having ridden those EE brakes, they work much better with a flexible housing because the need the entry angle of the brake cable to be at a very precise point to work at the optimal level. (Also this 'link' outer is lighter by like 50-100g than standard.)
