Canyoning in Italy - Rio Siera di Sappada / Specchio di Biancaneve, Sappada, Udine, Friuli

As a canyon the Rio Siera di Sappada, locally known as the Specchio di Biancaneve, is very unknown. It is, however, a popular ice climbing location. The anchor situation in the canyon is currently bad. We had to build some makeshift anchors since we did not want to spend a lot of time hand-drilling. We did not have the time and material to fix it, so if you want to run this canyon, prepare to take some bolts and a drill. We ran this canyon with more water than it usually has, but with the current anchor placement I would not recommend a higher water level. Be sure to check the water level (see end of video) before hiking up. All in all, a very nice canyon with some beautiful rappels, which desperately needs new anchors and better anchor placement.
Parking: 46°33'41.4"N 12°41'15.6"E
Ascent: Follow road 316 up towards Passo Siera. At about 1550 m elevation a path branches off to the right, which leads to the bridge at which you enter the canyon. 1 h
Descent: Nice rappels, but currently bad anchors and bad placements (at least for higher water levels). 2.5 - 3 h
The way back: after the last waterfall, either hike up towards a path that leads down, or continue in the stream for about 25 minutes. The path is quicker.
