Canyoning in Italy - Torrente Lumiei, Sauris & Ampezzo, Udine, Friuli

A beautiful canyon, especially in the first half, that is less focused on rapelling than most others in Friuli. Relatively horizontal, it has one gorgeous abseil, and most of the others drops can either be jumped or downclimbed. Easy, insane views, but not a lot of adrenaline involved. If you have 2 cars, you can shuttle this canyon.
The water of this canyon is regulated by the dam of Lago di Sauris. Make sure to call in advance and let them know how many people will go at which time, and ask them if it is okay to go!

Parking car 1: 46°26'08.1"N 12°46'55.1"E
Parking car 2: 46°26'55.5"N 12°46'13.2"E
Ascent: If you only have one car available, like we did, simply hike up the road until you reach the upper parking space. From here, a small path leads down to the canyon. After the small metal bridge over the canyon, go left and follow the path down into the canyon.
Descent: Mostly hiking, some downclimbing, some jumping and sliding, one larger (ca. 15 - 20 m) rappel.
The way back: After the row of waterfalls from the left (4:55 in the video) continue for a bit until you find the marks on the rocks on the right side of the river. From here a path leads back up to the road and the parking area.
Max abseil: ca. 20 m

Did it yesterday! But the "cave" at the bottom of the rappel was much darker even though the sun was out. What settings are you using in the gopro? Thanks

Might have just been a time of day thing, but the big pool below the rappel simply wasn't very dark when we ran it. As for settings, I sometimes change the ISO values a little but otherwise tend to leave most settings on auto. Hope you enjoyed it!
