How big a damage buff is focus for gunlance in Monster Hunter Now Comparison Long Build MHnow mh now

In this video I do a comparison of the different focus skill levels for charged shells for gunlance and demonstrate how much a damage improvement is when accounting for stuff like recovery times. I'm sure this skill is very much meta for gunlance and will be even better once we get more driftmelds in the next event.

Thanks for this video! 13% is impressive but the lag/overheat can definitely get it to bloody anoying. Me personally I'm in love with artillery 3 and partbreaker 4 on my azure lance. I simple snipe parts off left and right. Now... IF they debuff the shell dmg I may use focus. But for now... sniping parts is worth it especially since I'm gearing up all these armors to g8 for the drifting event. Thanks again for video broski

Amazing vid, easy to understand especially with video proof. Im rocking this set already, just need to level up the Rath waist a few more times for Grade 8 (same with Kulu waist) Im banking on that event to give either of those skills but 'd take a Partbreaker

I'm contemplating on lumu arms cause they give concentration lvl2, I think I'll remove my zinoger helm for azure rath helm for that focus lvl2 with that special attack will still be gained pretty quick👍

I already have Focus 3 on my build and it's been nice. I was going to craft the Kushala GL for group play, but I think I'll craft the arms first

Long was so much better in World, but Rise had amazing Normal shelling. Hopefully Wilds lets us have it all.

13.5% if the monster don't attack you and let you free fire. If the monster do attack you, it is only helpful if you can squeeze a more attack before the monster attack. The math is simple, the reality is complex.

even without the comparison, i can see the hunts where you're using focus 4, the shells are coming out much faster.

Im conflicted. My build has lvl 4 sneak with lvl 2 focus using a 10.1 dJoe gunlance. I could remove 1 sneak to put 1 more focus. Enemy does show its back from time to time with a charge shot of 3.9k.

the only thing is: using kushala arms causes you to lose Lock On on the arms from Rathian Vambraces.

I invested too much into kulu belt so Im just going to ignore rathalos belt and hope arty and focus are available In the event lol

Thanks for this. I changed my waist to rath for focus 4. Quick question, would it be more dps to use focus 5 and artillery 2 (or 3 with jho)?

I thought this almost as soon as I typed it. What about jho gl, with it's artillery, we can get focus 5 and artillery 3. Is that better vs artillery 4 focus 3?

I still prefer tobi arm over any focus skill arm, the side step range are so noticeable when fighting over monster with huge aoe range
