Can you explain why the cap and trade system cannot be used for all the source of pollution like vehicles, house heaters?

I might be off base, but I also believe a carbon tax might be easier to globalize/border adjust since there's an explicit price.

Thank you. Have a question, what do u mean by cheaper? The 50 thousand to 25 thousand statement. what is the cost of clean up? If the cost of clean up is cheaper, wouldn't they have the ability to pollute more? Otherwise it is only to reduce the pollution more.

The cost of clean up (e.g reducing co2 emissions) can get cheaper because in the future more and more industries will have to use "clean energy" techniques as well as managing efficiently the waste for instance. So let's say a firm used to get 20 permits, but now that reducing co2 emissions costs less, they're using more carbon free technologies (less co2 emissions). Which means the 20 permits the firm used to have is more than enough. 10 permits could be the new ''cap''. This is what I understood

Great video - bummed that you didn't mention carbon dividends - resonates a lot with people who don't want the government having a bigger bank account

Both ideas are great for different goals. The problem with cap & trade is that it assumes carbon emissions won’t grow over time. There is compelling evidence to show there’s no limit carbon emission. Carbon tax is easier to administer, and thus, more scalable for the future.

In my mind, there is a connection between the skyrocketing suicides, drug addiction, and binge drinking we’re seeing across the country and the fact that Americans are struggling so much financially. As the divide between the 'haves' and 'have nots' grows ever wider, one could assume that 99% of the population feel that overcoming economic inequality is insurmountable. Many Americans are hopeless and resigned to the fact that they may never live the American Dream or become part of the 1%." - Christopher Bergland, Psychology Today. goo.gl/K9attH -------------------- Here’s how capitalism works. "Why You Will Never Be Rich." What are your chances of becoming rich? … Most people who earn the big money have a university education. … Many tech entrepreneurs drop out of universities but most of them grew up in affluent families where they were afforded all kinds of comforts and opportunities poor people are not. In Malcolm Gladwell's book, Outliers, he points out that there are no self-made millionaires. Most people were helped with luck on the way and often this luck meant support of parents, good schooling and having fostered in them that they can do anything they want. … There is a direct affect on how much money you have to how far you go in education. Statistics differ depending on what you read, but it's thought that around 30 percent of Americans over the age of 25 have a bachelor's or master's degree. The Atlantic [magazine] tells us that more than 70 percent of those that went to top universities came from America's wealthiest families. These guys will no doubt have no problems paying off their student debt if they had student debt. In 2017 Forbes reported that the class of 2016 had $37,172 in student loan debt. If you are not from a wealthy family, then you are already struggling, just when you get going. So, how do you get rich when you come from meager beginnings given that you might have only a basic education or that your education became a financial albatross around your head? Still, back in 2012 a Gallup poll revealed that 28% of Americans expected to get rich at a time in their lives." - Feb 19, 2018, kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYPdfYNqj5mIgLM -------------------- Here’s how capitalism works: How banks, capitalism and corruption works. Or just trying to make the true cost of producing something be reflected in the price. Efficient capitalism maybe?
