Ben is always amazing, but I have to admit, I sometimes miss the jokes about names, like "Marshall gambit was named after Mr Gambit" and such :-D

Huge misconception about Gambit’s, they’re actually named after the games Gambit played, either the Location GM Gambit played the game, or the person GM Gambit played against.

What’s not to get. He’s just being silly, saying it was named after Mr. Gambit like he’s a real person.

Kf7 is a draw because the knight can create a blockade on the Q-side. The king cant get in. Curiously the move Nf5 is losing because (while it trades pawns in the endgame) it gives white a monster passed pawn. @ 8:52

To me, the Janowski-Capablanca position is an example of middlegame strategy. Not everything without queens has to be an endgame.

I love that this kid just said, unironically, that the second best chess player *in the world* "isn't a super grandmaster." 😂

At the time the video was recorded, Nakamura was only 10th. Frankly - terrible.

@@patrykapiezo1650 Tenth highest rating ever recorded in history. Not tenth alive and playing today. He's currently considered #3 in the world, behind Carlsen and Caruana, but that's classical chess, or "standard time control," to FIDE. He's #2 in blitz, behind only Carlsen. He's somehow #14 in rapid, which I can only assume means that he doesn't play a lot of rapid, because I don't believe there are 13 people alive who are better than him. I believe there are one or two, but those last two statements are just my opinion. It was also my opinion when I said he was the second best player in the world. That's just what I think. If you consider all of their skills across all time controls, I happen to believe Nakamura is better than Caruana. A strong case can be made to the contrary, I'm just stating what I believe. ...and all of these things are based solely on rating, which is why there is no mention of the current world champion. He has the fourth highest rating, behind Nakamura - but he is the reigning world champion.

@@SevenTheJester Thanks for your wall of text. The video was recorded in October 2017, and Nakamura was ranked 10th, though.

@@patrykapiezo1650 You're quite welcome for the text, but that's not a wall; that's just two paragraphs. In October of 2017, Nakamura was rated tenth in _classical_ chess. He was also rated fourth in both rapid _and_ blitz, because those are the game types that he was predominantly playing in late 2017. My opinion would still be that he is the second or third best active player in the world, though.
