To those of you who read the description: You are an excellent subscriber! :)
Jose Raul Capablanca was regarded as a chess prodigy, yet his father wanted him to maintain the "even tenor of the average boy's way in his youth." Capablanca moved to the USA in 1904 to complete his education. However, he left Columbia University in 1910 without a degree and pursued a career in chess.[3] His first international success was his clear win (+8 -1 =14) over the former world championship challenger in Capablanca-Marshall (1909). After that, he was considered a worthy contender for the title of world champion, and reigning champion Emanuel Lasker commented "Capablanca has shown himself to be a great player."
Capablanca's admirers had suggested a title challenge as early as 1908. Even prior to his first European tournament, León Paredes had suggested to Lasker that he play a match with Capablanca, but Lasker declined. Capablanca himself remained cautious. The hype surrounding Capablanca made Lasker admit that the subject got "on his nerves." Capablanca made his international tournament debut at San Sebastian (1911). He unexpectedly won 1st prize, a result even he hadn't anticipated.[9] About seven months after this success, he challenged Lasker to a title match.]

The Capablanca saga was a perfect length. I learned so much about his approach to chess as he developed. I previously had a fixed in time idea of his style from a very small number of his classic games. That impression has changed now. SAGA:) I am still interested in Anand as he is a strong GM who analyses the game with clarity.

I heard that Anatoly Karpov had an incredible understanding on strategical ideas of chess, and I think that it could be very nice if you cover a Karpov saga, maybe starting with his carrier before becoming World Champion, and then showing the games he played for the World Championship matches against Garry Kasparov.

@@krishnasykam7930 I don't think that the majority of viewers in this channel is composed of strong players either. Grandmasters today can spot defensive resources that would nullify Morph's attacks, but, for beginners, it's a great chance to improve our vast knowledge. Besides this is not only a common chess channel. Agadmator always brings amazing stories about the players and the era that they lived. In this matter, probably there wouldn't be another player more interesting to know about than Morphy.

@@rickrick5041 Emil Joseph Diemer was a german chess master contemporary to Alekhine who dedicated his whole life to the Black-Diemer's gambit and it's variations. #sagasuggestion I think an Alekhine saga would be amazing, it would be like making a sequel where the protagonist of the sequel finally meets the protagonist of the first story. At the end we will be rooting for both players in the world championship title match, because we will get to know Alekhine on a deeper level like we got to know Capablanca. It would be pretty cinematic. Especially if you could mention sometimes where Capablanca is at certain points of time, when Alekhine is having a crucial moments in his career. I think the length of the saga doesn't matter, we like all of your videos. And we have enough time.

Despite losing the world championship to Alekhine, Capablanca still held an advantage in their overall head to head matches. @@manu-ox4fe You are right in what you are saying. However, I ment it a bit more specifically, but I didn't want to write a too long comment. Alekhine often would play h4,h5 or a5,a4 relatively early in the game. Attacking moves, considered risky today and not being played too often on a high level... However, with AlphaZero we see the same ideas bringing success even against calculating beasts like stockfish. After that I saw Carlsen also using similar ideas. (Maybe inspired by Alpha) And my point was - where was Alpha when hundred years ago Alekhine used to play those types of moves ? So ya, Alekhine was definitely a genius that the world should know more about.

Thanks for bringing to us the Capablanca Saga. Am a lazy goose and it definitely has enriched my understanding of positional play so much more than self study actually.

Temporarily losing stuff happens to me all the time. Wife's keys are the latest example. The process goes like this: --Did I throw it away, yes/no? --No. --It's got to be around here somewhere. --Don't blame the wife. --Keep looking. #Suggestion: an autographed copy of the give-away book. Also include a brief statement about where you found it. Great channel, Tony. We've passed from simply viewing chess games into friendship. We follow you because we like you, your dog, and your girl friend when she shows up from time to time. Cheers.
