00:00 Hello Everyone!
In 2001, during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence in the wake of the Soviet Union's dissolution, a double round robin chess tournament was held in the capital city of Astana. Six of the world's best players, including the world champion, participated in the category XX event. The participants were (in order of ELO): Garry Kasparov (2835), Vladimir Kramnik (2797), Alexander Morozevich (2749), Alexey Shirov (2722), Boris Gelfand (2712) and Kazakhstan's number one player Darmen Sadvakhasov (2585). Kasparov made it nine tournament wins in a row on his streak to ten with his undefeated victory here, in sole first place with 7/10.

Did Hikaru pick the game for today?
@nicbentulan
@nicbentulan 5 ай бұрын
3 questions Q1 - Why are chess players more dishonest than 9LX players? Eg there hasn't been a cheating scandal in a classical 9LX tournament. Q2 - Do you side with Wesley, Bobby, Hans (axis of evil) over Magnus, Garry, Hikaru (allies of evil) ? Q3 - Which of the ff facts do you deny? H1 - Hikaru cheated Levon. G1 - Garry cheated Judit. G2 - Garry cheated Vishy. G3 - Garry cheated Daniel Edelman. G4 - Garry cheated in 1999 MSN game. G5 - Garry cheated Alexei Shirov. M1 - Magnus cheated Anish. M2 - Magnus cheated Sergey. M3 - Magnus cheated Alireza. M4 - Magnus cheated Wesley M5 - Magnus cheated Danya TWICE. M6 - Magnus cheated Nepo. M7 - Magnus cheated Alexandra Kosteniuk. WBH1 - Bobby cheated no one. WBH2 - Hans cheated no one (as an adult). WBH3 - Wesley cheated no one. WBH4 - Hans supposedly cheated 100x, but Magnus definitely did as described in kBOrtdiGDrM or VInHv6ZS818 - cbarr81 asked: Do you ever log onto as an anonymous player, and just crush people for fun? - Magnus admitted in an AMA: Once in a while I’ve used some of my friends accounts and won a couple of games… or a lot… Source: p1w4Rr-jr --- Good guys vs Bad guys Note: they correspond. Eg Wesley Vs Magnus Bobby Vs Garry Hans Vs Hikaru Christopher Yoo Vs Andrew Tang Dina Vs Andrea etc - Axis of Evil = Good guys: wesley so, hans niemann, bobby fischer, sergey karjakin, vlad kramnik (still! See below), ian nepomniachtchi, alireza firouzja, nodirbek abdusattorov, andrii baryshpolets, vishy anand, jan-krzysztof duda, chesscube, Sergey's hypothetical pure 9LX parallel, christopher yoo, leela, ferdinand marcos sr, ben johnson of perpetual chess podcast(?), elon musk(?), donald trump, andrew tate - Allies of Evil = Bad guys: magnus carlsen, hikaru nakamura, garry kasparov, daniil dubov, veselin topalov, liren ding, aryan tari, vincent keymer, arkady dvorkovich, peter heine nielsen, richárd rapport, PCA, FIDE, andrew tang, stockfish, prospero pichay jr, lex fridman(?), mark zuckerberg(?), george bush, piers morgan - axis of evil (female) = good girls: tingjie lei (or paikidze), janelle frayna, dina belenkaya, sara khadem (or carissa yip), robbi jade lew - allies of evil (female) = bad girls: wenjun ju, bella khotenashvili, andrea botez, atousa pourkashiyan - nakamura, nemo zhou --- Note on axis Vs allies: They're not just good Vs bad. They're also axis of evil Vs allies of evil. They're both evil but in different ways. I'm saying that even though the axis of evil is evil, they're still more so the good guys compared to the allies of evil - whom I consider the bad guys. We may disagree on who the good Vs bad guys are, but I think we'll agree on axis Vs allies. Axis of Evil is like tax collector, the more conventional, obvious or well-known evil. Allies of Evil is like Pharisee, the unconventional or inconspicuous evil. More info: ARNSi0cPu60 --- Note re Vlad: I view Vlad's accusation of Hans similar to Bobby's accusation of Anatoly Karpov & Wesley's wanting Sergey to not be in the 2022 candidates - it's a good guy fighting another good guy. The real bad guy in each respective case is Magnus, Garry & Magnus again. Tsk tsk. It's sad Vlad/Bobby/Wesley didn't realise that Magnus/Garry/Magnus is far more evil than Hans/Anatoly/Hans. Wait, I think Bobby did. Not sure. I think Bobby hated Garry more than Anatoly, but maybe not by much more. More info: eXHvXpOnAOE

1 - imagine WESLEY SO, THE NEPHEW OF BOBBY FISCHER, wins the candidates and then beats liren and then becomes the 1st ever player to become both classical WFRCC & classical WCC unlikely unless the candidates suddenly becomes - classical 9LX - classical armageddon w/ auction - both of the above - knockout (either single or double i guess) w/tiebreaker not rapid but classical armageddon w/ auction it's still unlikely even if liren drops out and there's a 2nd place thing again. but still a fun thought lol. 1.1 Actually another fun thought is Liren drops out and then Wesley So Vs Ian Nepomniachtchi in both 2024 WFRCC finals if it's classical and 2024 classical wcc. Then people will start to see this is a better rivalry than Hikaru Vs Magnus in rapid chess or rapid 9LX. (I don't necessarily agree with them but Hikaru Vs Magnus has a Wikipedia page. So please don't comment anything like 'Magnus owns Hikaru' or whatever. The point isn't to compare Magnus w/ Hikaru or Nepo w/ Wesley. The point is that Magnus & Hikaru are on the same side 'allies of evil' just as Nepo & Wesley are on the same side 'axis of evil'.) 2 besides as far h uncle bobby is concerned. 2a - wesley has nothing to prove in regular chess anymore 2b - wesley has nothing to prove in rapid 9LX 2c - wesley has something to prove in classical 9LX if it's next gen. imagine hans vs wesley in 2024 classical WFRCC finals. it's like bobby fischer vs anatoly karpov (bobby fischer vs garry kasparov was the 2019 WFRCC finals, proving ultimately that bobby would've EASILY defeated garry in classical 9LX) 3 ok i've been complaining for 2 years that wesley didn't get a wildcard in the candidates for 9LX reasons even though fabi & hikaru got wildcards in the 2019 WFRCC quarter-finals (equivalent of 9LX candidates) for chess reasons. (yes, hikaru too. 2018 unofficial is only 2 players & both were chess wildcards. but unfortunately no, magnus indeed deserved a wildcard into the 2019 WFRCC semi-finals) but i guess that's now moot. 4 but still wesley should get a wildcard in the 2024 WFRCC if it's going to be classical (at least 60min) again like 2019 not rapid in 2022 (32.5min). Or whatever don't give Wesley as wildcard but let all tiebreakers be classical 9LX AW/A and then Wesley So will win the whole tournament EASILY. 5 finally, magnus garry hikaru daniil, veselin, liren, piers morgan, george bush are bad guys (allies of evil). wesley, bobby, hans, sergey, vlad, nepo, andrew tate, donald trump are good guys (axis of evil). so they're both evil in different ways: allies of evil vs axis of evil as described in: ARNSi0cPu60 like tax collector vs pharisee, like (iran iraq north korea) vs (US UK Japan Australia) 6 wow i can't believe someone actually reached the end of this comment. well thanks for reading. merry christmas, happy new year, and happy holidays 7 PS 2023 USCC - Atousa almost beat Carissa Yip, the eventual winner! Carissa was losing most of the game. Atousa just blundered in the end. #suggestion #womeninchess #uschesschamps #uschess #uschesschamp #uscc

2:35 I am stunned by how EASY a 2802 elo player blundered the castling so EARLY in the game…All Kramnik had to do is capture the bishop with his B7 pawn and not with D7 so that his queen won’t be exposed. I mean its only the next move that his pawn on E5 is captured (the most logical next move) and he will have to move the knight and expose his queen. The GMs usually calculate 5-10 moves in advance.. was it a blitz game or did Kramnik had a few vodka before the game?
@austinwheeler3665
@austinwheeler3665 5 ай бұрын
Although the game ended badly for Kramnik, allowing the queen trade with loss of castling rights in this scenario is perfectly acceptable. It was intentionally allowed, not a blunder. The same sequence of moves is played in modern times. I won’t pretend to know the nuances of whether b takes instead of d takes is playable at this level, and I’d certainly choose b takes myself, but the whole point of the Berlin defense is an incredibly solid drawish defense for black which doesn’t allow white many chances to push for a win, barring mistakes like what we saw today. An early queen trade reduces white’s firepower as a step toward that objective.

It's all theory and I think you'd quite enjoy the Berlin endgame if you tried it. Not a lot of mistakes to be made in the opening so you'll learn them quickly.

13:01 Why not take the pawn on b3?
@BuggatiWeryon

Because then h6+ defended by the knight, king has to move to stay in contact with the pawn. But both moves are bad. If Kg6, then Rf6+ pushes the king down as king cant advance back to g7 due to the pawn. After Kg5, h7 and nor the king nor the rook can catch the pawn because the rook is now on B3 and the king is WAAAAY behind... Let's check the second king move, if after Rxb3, h6+, Kh7 staying in front of the pawn and blockading it, then Rxf7 comes with check, you lose an important pawn. Now you have to go way back to the 8th rank and then the rook can grab the c7 pawn, as the black rook is now on the B file and you have to watch out for some sort of knight/rook checks, pawn advances, White will be much faster since the pawn is on h6 and black's passer will only be on b5, after Black removes the rook since it is in front of the pawn now

It's not defended, and then you have three pawns moving forward.

@@syjwg now i realized you were talking about the B3 pawn lol. Ofc the rook can grab it but i just explained above that it will be losing if black had grabbed the B3 pawn then
