I hope its a combo of IP copyright violation and Capcom starting plans for CV and a (re)remake for RE1. But yeah, you can't make a profit off of someone else's IP, that's kinda common sense, and I get the feeling that info is being left out here. Hopefully the devs turn Lemons into lemonade though, and try to make their own game.

Capcom said that they would like to do a Code Veronica Remake if they had time after the RE4 Remake so it is possible that they are making one in secret cuz players have been demanding a Code Veronica Remake ever since the RE3 Remake came out.

They are the ones who made the series and Capcom does allow fan games to be made as long as no one tries to make money off of them meaning if they didn’t ask for support funding then these games would’ve still been in production until further notice ie when Capcom decides to do remakes of their own of these games. Capcom is the only company that’s allowed to make money off of RE games, while fan made merch such that’s based on RE is allowed to be made and fans will get a profit off of that kind of stuff like Redbubble prints but not games that are using assets from official games. Cuz these games were using official models of Claire and Jill from the RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake respectively albeit Claire’s model was tweaked by giving her a new outfit.

All valid points, Andy. I love fan-made RE projects. However, it is Capcom's IP, and it can do as it pleases. As you said, Capcom has a history of being very lenient to fan projects. Unfortunately, no matter how it's dressed up, links and suggestions for donations were implemented in the RE projects, and it seems that's where Capcom drew the line. Hopefully, this indie team will make a fantastic horror game of its own one day 🤞

Newcomers who have only played the remakes don’t know who Wesker is. Sure he may be in RE4 but to only have him in two games would be a crime😂

It's moronic. Plain and simple, by most TOS, the rule of thumb is that donation only constitute an offense by locking assets behind a paywall(such as Patreon tier reward). Tips and donation does not constitute as "making money off the game" or even the assets, since you're not selling them on any market. In that regard it also constitute fair use. Though the most likely explanation that *actually* and factually make sense is that reusing assets is against their TOS. (Which is why nowadays fangames outside the Sonic fanbase goes for making their own assets altogether compared to the 2000s where ripping assets were a norm.)

Capcom was completely in the Right here, The Developers should not have used assets from the RE Engine or asked people to donate Money to fund a Fan Project for an IP They do not own that for me was the real kick to the Bucket on this project. Capcom can't keep buying out the fans mod games out. Scare them out all they want too. Gun Survivor series & Outbreak have been botched no rereleases nor remasters. What are fans meant to do yes that right make sure these spin offs made available to play today with current hardware! Original RE games lost in time. Who wouldn't have Saturn RE or N64 RE2 be available to play today from any digital store?

Remakes are outsolding the originals because Capcom dont release the original games since the end of the PS3 era and obviously if they keep to selling the same games every months via -80% sales in every consoles and PC obviously people buy since they doesnt have any other RE games to play. OG RE3 could be not a masterpiece for you, but for me its a great game as for other people, there a reason if many, many, many veteran gamers criticized that lazy remake, still not a reason that it deserved to be ditched and ruined like that. RE3R selling only because its "3" and its called "Resident Evil", remember that it didnt surpassed even the 3m sales at release and it ended to be in-% off sales after 2 months LMAO
