Billy Coen had combat experience with BOWs. That information right there is worth a pardon. Post RE3 I could see him in an instructor role teaching soldiers how to fight BOWS. Original RE3 Carlos would have just gone back home to South America but Remake Carlos totally would have been storming that base alongside Jill.

I wish Rebecca Chambers had more games to be in. Her design and personality was so great, I've been a Rebecca Chambers fan for years. I wish capcom would just get her to be a main character again like in re0. It's sad that we didn't get to see her actually develop other than re0, re1 and resident evil vendetta. Rebecca Chambers deserved so much better in the resident evil universe. Capcom just doing this character so wrong it's not even funny.

Cause her dialogue in re1 remake and re0 made me a little bit sad at times, she had such a sweet, caring personality (as you would expect from a teen medic). She was very inexperienced but handled things well on her own at times. I just want her back, why can't capcom just do that?

I know a large group of characters won't come back, but she was always special to me as a character. I'm just really disappointed with capcom these days.

To be fair it was Shinji Mikami who didn't want her at all, Capcom is probably responsible for Rebecca getting as far as she did which I'm grateful for. The real question is when is my boy HUNK getting any love?

The endings of 2, 3 and Code Veronica were setting up Leon, Claire, Chris, Jill, Carlos and possibly Barry to team up and take down Umbrella only for 4's Leon opening narration to gloss over Umbrella's fall and Umbrella Chronicles to turn what should have been a 3rd person horror game about destroying the series's main evil company into a rail shooter.

3:34 This isn't really an excuse because even though she did choose a non combatant career path she was still a former special forces officer. She still had training and experience in the field. After what she went through in Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil she should be carrying a gun at all times. I like the action Resident Evil games and I like the fact that some of the classic characters choose to put themselves in dangerous situations but even when that's not the case characters don't always have that choice. Rebecca should be ready for anything at all times. There have been rumors that she's going to be the main character of Resident Evil Revelations 3 and I really hope that turns out to be true.

I think it's interesting that in original game Rebbeca was shown to be often inexperianced and even careless at time with taking unnecessary risks, but towards the end when you think wesker killed her, turns out she was actually alive thanks to wearing bullet proof vest which neat character moment for her as it shows she perhaps thought ahead in time in terms of protecting herself, some might viewed as dumb luck but I think it's good character growth it's sorts frustrating since with Zero existence it showcases that rebbeca could be already capable which now makes RE1 incarnation look more like incompetant buffon than inexperianced rookie

And even with the Umbrella Chronicles Rebecca side story, it provides little to no information about what happened to her weapon. The logical explanation would be that she lost it after an encounter with another monster. She was probably disarmed of her gun and couldn't retrieve it even if she wanted to. Even if she had close quarters combat training, that alone wouldn't protect her from all the monsters. Sure, the mansion has a lot of guns and ammo. But even then it would be difficult find one of them when you're currently unarmed in a mansion full of undead zombies and mutants. Not even using some kind of object as an improvised weapon will be enough. Your best bet would be to run and hide until help can arrive. Keep in mind, Rebecca is still a rookie and a medic. Plus, she's 18. Which is still young. Not to mention her job was to arrest a guy on Death's Row not fight monsters.

I always felt that Rebecca in RE1 Remake should have been a complete badass after surviving the event’s of RE0 and Richard getting poisoned would be good motivation for her to try and survive a lot more harder letting her pure instincts fully kick in maybe going as far as to have her wearing the same red bandanna she wore in the original game and yes I do feel like she should return in a new game Revelations 3 or RE9 ether can work.

The "shes super tired" idea was actually lended weight in the RE 1 remake. There is a scene that happens around the time yku save forest with the serum, and Rebecca and chris talk for a minute, and she looks up at him and her face looks just completelg exhausted.

Agreed I definitely want to see everyone and know what they're up to in the current day in the timeline despite it being my favourite game in the series I'm still heartbroken knowing that Ada was supposed to be in Village but got cut. I'm crossing my fingers like crazy that maybe her or even Jill could show up in the DLC

I want a Revelations 3 that has Rebecca and Billy reunited dealing with a storyline that has them work with Carlos to take down Nicholai finally and bring in the man that had Billy framed for the 23 murders: Commander Samuel Regan. Have Nicholai and Regan working together, making the situation very personal for Billy and Carlos both.

And how could she sleep when she was plagued by nightmares? Both because of what she just went through and because her gut is telling the mansion isn't safe. She couldn't sleep even if she wanted too. Why she doesn't have a weapon could be that she lost it following another encounter with the monsters. 3:53 I'd also like for Ada Wong to be involved. Mostly because she's my favorite character in the series but also because in Resident Evil 4 I always found it a little bit odd that Leon's reaction to her was a bit muted considering he wasn't sure whether or not she was still alive. This is especially glaring after the Resident Evil 2 remake Didn't even give Leon a hint that she could have been alive. Having a story where they reunite and he's not sure what her plans are would be very interesting. And she could have her own campaign that reveals she was working behind the scenes to help the other heroes take down Umbrella. I didn't like the fact that they left her motivations unclear after her redemption at the end of Resident Evil 2 and I would like them to start filling in those gaps. Shinji Makami recently lamented the fact that he only had three weeks to write the story for Resident Evil 4 so he didn't think it turned out very good. I think Ada being somewhat cold blooded and ruthless is a symptom of that problem. I think a full game about the fall of Umbrella and a Resident Evil 4 remake could do a lot to fix these problems. Ada went out of her way to save civilians in residential 6 so a more heroic motivation for her character can work. Especially after she explicitly expresses the desire to be more righteous like Leon in Resident Evil 2.

@EGR18 Yeah that does bother me. But honestly the mainline titles and the spinoffs are pretty interchangeable. I mean the original Resident Evil 3 started out as a spinoff With Code Veronica intended to be Resident Evil 3. but because of a deal Capcom had with Sony they had to release a certain amount of main line titles on the Playstation. Hell Resident Evil Village started out as Resident Evil Revelations 3. And honestly I rarely ever hear anyone refer to it as Resident Evil 8. I remember being disappointed with Resident Evil 7 while at the same time Resident Evil Revelations 2 was one of my favorite games in the series. Although Resident Evil Village made me really like Ethan and Mia I hope the story of the Winters family is over after the next installment. I do want them to focus on the classic characters more. Whether they put them in a mainline title or a spinoff doesn't really matter to me just as long as the game is good. As a matter of fact I kind of think they should stop numbering Resident Evil games anames and just go with subtitles.

The biggest waste of plotential with Rebecca was explaining how in the blue fuck a teenager is both a fully trained combat medic and helicopter engineer (she mentions that she herself had been servicing the helicopter that Bravo Team went down in.) Her playing piano and firing guns I get; she'd have been learning those since she was a child in the US, but you don't exactly learn combat life saving and helicopter engineering in high school.

Yeah, the absolutely ridiculous inconsistency of Rebecca between RE1Remake and Zero has always bugged me. There's absolutely no excuse for it, but somehow it managed to happen anyways. Rebecca goes through so much in Zero to where honestly Chris should be the rookie between the two of them by the time they meet, but noooo, because nobody wanted to make sure things added up, Zero might as well never happened at all for all the lasting impact it left on the series Honestly, I'll be surprised if we ever see good ole Becky again. Capcom has it out for her for some reason, so even if we do see her again I can't imagine they're gonna do anything significant with her. Sad, because she has a lot of potential, but no, no, instead of actually doing something interesting with existing characters people have wanted to see back for years, we get two games with the cardboard cutout Ethan Winters through infested hick country and feudal Europe featuring Mommy Milkers

Sadly, the handling of the Biohazard cast of characters was always a bit lacklustre. I was thinking Rebecca as a non-recurring sort of deal until Vendetta came out. The CG movies and series might actually be a good opportunity to work in all those other supporting roles that just sit there warming the bench because what else are they doing with them?

Carlos definitely needs to come back for sure. While I really liked Parker in Revelations, he could have very easily been Carlos and it would have worked fine. I'm probably one of the 5 people who actually like Billy, and while I don't think he NEEDS to come back I wouldn't be against it. At least some mention of him would be nice. I mean I could pitch a scenario for his return and I think it would work better for a "new" character than the flat note that was Ethan. New outbreak in South America or somewhere without extradition laws. We play a new character a grizzled somewhat older guy who happens to be just badass enough to survive. Surprise its Billy who's been living in South America as a Bartender or Mechanic or something under a new identity. Game could even end with the BSAA offers to clear his name or whatever if he joins them or something. Bonus points if Carlos is the BSAA Soldier who tries to recruit him.

I don’t understans how nobody ever noticed Rebecca’s potential to be a hidden vilain in the RE1 and then reveal herself as an Wesker’s ally in latter titles. Why? Well… When playing as Chris, there’s a moment when Rebecca informs that she activated the self-destruction system. The problem? There’s also a file which tells exactly that the orders of Umbrella was to explode the mansion to destroy all the evidence. Also… it is strange how a girl so young and naive could make it into an elite force as STARS. Could it happen because Wesker wanted to have one ally inside the squad? And this gets even clearer when you realize that Rebecca was assigned to the Bravo Team, almost as if Wesker wanted someone to take care of Bravo Team while Wesker himself was responsable for Alpha Team. Things get even stranger if you notice that Rebecca, in spite of being the youngest and less experient member of her team, was the only one to survive, and did it almost without any harm. Could it be because she wasn’t so naive as we might think? Maybe she knew about all the dangers and traps of the mansion and even was the responsable for setting up for Bravo members until the arrival of Wesker? More than everything… a possible evidence of her alliance with Wesker was the fact that he kept a hidden picture of Rebecca in his desk at the RPD. And it was not a simple photo… it is a film of a shot taken in a very casual occasion. Who took the picture? Who sent Wesker the film? Could it be that Wesker himself took the picture and didn’t have enough time to reveal the photo? I think that there are so many possible connection to be explored on Rebecca’s plot that it’s a shame that nothing of this was ever taken in account…

Honestly, it would've been a bigger plot twist than what happened with Jill. Let's not forget that Rebecca knows how to work and fix a helicopter, got her degree in chemistry and medicine, was trained in how to use a gun and joined S.T.A.R.S., a Special Ops unit. All of this shit she did and learned was something she did at the age of eighteen. She's a fucking genius.

Easy to have Jill, Claire and Rebecca to appear in a game together have the three ladies win or go on holiday together to a tropical island which few days later becoming the site of bio weapons attack the three ladies have to work together to survive the outbreak and escape the island before deadline. Have the game mechanics where you can switch between each woman with each of them survival skill Like Rebecca can make stronger herbs than Jill and Claire Or Jill can unlock special lock with master of unlocking Or Claire her detectives skill unlock secret clue to find hidden items

I didn't mind him in 6 but I can see why people didn't like him, especially with his whole "Muh men" phase, tho through the lens of mental illness, I don't mind how the story went. Haven't seen the CGI movies tbh, refuse to play 8, and 100% agree about 7, although him being a douchebag is kinda funny.

@EGR18 no, I wouldn't say he was ALWAYS the least interesting out of the main 4. His bond with Claire and Jill had always been one of the most interesting things in the series, but they did almost nothing with after code veronica and later in re5. His personal beef with Wesker was also probably the best thing to come out of the series besides gameplay, I think they killed off Wesker way too early in the series. Re6 is my favorite re game in terms of story and content, but I got to admit the series wasn't the same since...well if you don't consider re4's game mechanics.

i'm a HUGE rebecca fan and it's such a shame that her existence in the series apart from 0 and the stageplay is just "well, i guess i'm here sometimes and it's usually so i can be saved by other characters". 0 is what made me love rebecca but everyone knows it's not the most polished RE game to play compared to the others, so a lot of people don't play it or don't finish it because it can get frustrating. and then people don't realize that rebecca had this whole character development of learning that things aren't always as they seem and learning to overcome her fear and do what's right. like she took down hunters, several bosses, and TYRANTS in 0 and then when you go to RE1 remastered, it's like she's a completely different person. rebecca in RE0 learned to save herself AND other people despite her initial naivety, helplessness, and fear. and rebecca in RE1 remastered is your typical damsel in distress. all of the characters have been freaked out by zombies at one time or another, but at this point, the veteran characters of RE hardly even flinch fighting all these BOWs. what i loved about rebecca was how they actually let her be scared in RE0 and RE1 Remastered and she continued on despite that. Another example of a refreshing POV would be ethan winters! ethan grew on me, especially in RE Village, because he was just a normal dude and had to adapt quickly, but just when i was getting to like him, you-know-what happens. i love RE and all its characters, but it's crazy to me that they're not bringing back underrated and/or underutilized characters to spice up the series and try to Build something. RE0, RE Revelations 2, and RE6 are not popular compared to the other games, but they had SO much potential with the characters they introduced. I would LOVE to see a different cast take on the mantle for the typical cast as the "new" protagonists or at least show up in Some capacity. I always wish Rebecca Chambers, Billy Coen, Barry Burton, Moira Burton, Piers Nivans (he's alive in my heart), Jake Muller, Sherry Birkin, Sheva Alomar, Carlos Oliveira, Zoe Baker, Joe Baker, etc would come back in some way. I always felt some of them would fit perfectly to take up the protagonist roles that the iconic characters have held and continue to hold, despite them being burnt out fighting all the time. Hell, I'll even take bringing Ashley Graham back for a cameo or something (and there's even Natalia from RE Rev2 and I'm sure many others). It would bring something refreshing to the series and have potential for interesting group dynamics!! But they have this habit of deploying characters who could be really interesting as part of the regular foreseeable lineup, and playing a game with them, before completely throwing them away. which is SUCH a waste because you could easily have them continue the RE legacy and still pay tribute to the original iconic protagonists. just have the original cast be mentor figures or something!! and i'm not saying they ALL have to be protagonists, but i would just like to know they're still alive and kickin' in the RE universe.

If they ever remake the last classic title to actually _deserve_ it - Code: Veronica - they could easily incorporate Rebecca into Chris' chapters. Remove the infamous padding and pacing issues at the tail-end of that title. By expanding the narrative for the last person from the first game to be all but forgotten by Capcom.

I always found it funny in the original that when Chris meets Rebecca, Chris vaguely acknowledges that Rebecca must be from Bravo team. She then states that she is a "newcomer" and joined last month but she was scouted by Wesker for her brilliant scientific mind and because she was so intelligent she got her degree at 18. Chris on the other hand is stars top marksman, so well revered that Wesker and Chris are responsible for the development of the Samurai edge, a gun specifically designed for the stars team. How have they never met or even remotely aware of the other person other than knowing (from the uniform) that they are in the same unit?

@EGR18 you can be and I agree. He had very little character development in the original, which is understandable to a degree but then got sidelined until re5. His part in CV did nothing for him was overly short and only furthered the f**k Wesker side of his story. In 5 I didn't care for his arc as it appeared to be the one dimensional "I hate Wesker" campaign. Jill's disappearance should have been played out for two games at least to help further his character and deepen his connection with Jill. He should have died in 6, passing the torch to Piers. Not only would this have given the game some pathos and gravitas but would have felt like a fitting conclusion to his story and made him a martyr for the cause. At this point, he feels as if he has failed his partner, his squad and to a degree his sister. He is approaching 40, deep in alcoholism and PTSD, displaying irrational behaviour and operating with tunnel vision. Whilst it is said he is protective of Claire this is seldom shown, rarely talking about her and mainly working with Jill, whom he seems more protective over. He should have been the ultimate moral compass that stops working due to years of trauma, hardship and failure. With all that pressure he eventually should have made a mistake that cost him, not anyone else near him. Capcom dropped the ball with Chris, failing to turn him into a compelling character and even failing at explaining why he refuses to be honest with Ethan in Re8 about what is going on because that would have been character development.

Honestly, I think Resident Evil should go through a hard reboot. While I did like 7 and 8, they hardly have anything to do with the original premise of the series and so much of the series' wasted potential was just discarded. They should remake 0 and 1 and make it into one game. Or maybe just have 0 be a remake. Perhaps Rebecca can take a less "inexperienced rookie" role and actually take a role that shows her as a badass who can actually teach Chris and Jill a thing or two about what they're facing during the events in the Mansion, because ya know. She's actually faced BOWs by this point. You can keep the bit about her fate being determined by Chris' actions by foreshadowing in 0 and 1, stating that she's still terrified of the creatures and avoids them as best she can, but is capable of fighting when necessary. So if she's cornered and defenseless, either by being out of ammo, or just being unable to access her weapon, her cowering makes sense. 2 and 3 should probably just be one game honestly. I know their paths in Raccoon City barely, if ever interact with one another, but I feel like it can be so much more interesting if we see Claire and Leon having to work with Carlos and Jill rather than they just keep conveniently missing each other as they tread through the same areas. You can still have 4-8 happen, but give more care to the original cast's stories and for the love of god, PROPERLY show the downfall of Umbrella through the action of our various heroes, rather than just gloss over it in a damn prologue. Side note: If you redo Code Veronica (which you should) either remove Steve outright or completely overhaul the character, he was the most insufferable character in the series imo. At least Billy Coen had some charm to him. I was overjoyed when Steve died.

Indeed, I STILL wonder where Rebecca was when Jill was trying to escape Raccoon City. Was she also surviving on the opposite side of town? Did the Mansion Incident shake her up so badly that she ditched town before the rest of S.T.A.R.S. fled the city? Did she ever interact with Jill or Claire or any other survivors? Even though I'm glad she returned in Vendetta, there's still a LARGE gap in the RE timeline where Rebecca Chambers is unaccounted for, and it drives me nuts that we're not getting ANY answers. And then there's Carlos, Billy and Steve Burnside. Capcom insisted that there's more for these characters but dropped the ball almost immediately and seem to refuse to pick it up.

Only Jill stayed behind in Raccoon City, the rest of the STARS left. At first it was implied they went to fight Umbrella together but it was later reduced to only Chris confirmed as taking an active part in oposing Umbrella, Barry took his family and ran, and presumably the same happened with Rebecca.

I remember seeing an interview with the game director. He said he absolutely despised Rebbeca, be cause of how young, girly and "weak" she is compare to the rest of the cast or Jill who is a "Badass". I always liked Rebecca, exactly because of those traits. She might be weaker but she make it up by being witty and smart. To me being "badass" for a female character just mean being bulky huge guys but in a female body. So a female "badass" don't always need to be gun blazing while taking in 5 dudes unarmed to be a "badass" and interesting and likeable.

Carlos coming back could be interesting. Former Umbrella Operative who has dealt with prototypes that needed culling before an outbreak occurs. There's definitely some experience there. As for Billy, I think it might be better just to have him stay "dead". It's how Rebecca wrote her report, supposedly. Might cause issues if he were to suddenly return. Then again, his death did happen during the STARS incidents so it's possible that most people have just forgotten who he is. The status of an ex-con can easily fly under the radar when you're dealing with the bioweapons, mansion explosions and mass death that we saw in RE0 and 1, not to mention eventually what would happen in RE2 and 3. At that point, any record of Billy Cohen was probably lost to time, since the police department got nuked along with the rest of the city. Since the time period is early 90s, I'm not sure if the police records would've been stored on a remote server yet. A lot of the documents you find are still paper, with little of it being digital. Seems like what was recorded was being held locally. Even Umbrella didn't keep remote backups because the first mansion incident evidently destroys everything except for whatever Wesker made off with.

Yeah, this decision really hampered the my experience with the Series. RE6 was a close, CLOSE imagining of All the Characters we wanted in RE, except that we got only Leon, Chris, Ada, and Sherry! The rest of the characters we Didn’t really have any ideas existed. I mean it, who the fuck was Jake?! A Wesker clone, his son?! That doesn’t add up since we have no clue Who he banged, same for Piers and Helena! Piers has the benefit of a Manga to fill in some backstory connections, but Helena’s involvement is purely Coincidental! She’s not even a in-depth character at the beginning and Leon is treating her like Claire! Capcom really doesn’t have any desire to expand on their female cast members, like at all. That or it’s superficial development tied to random characters that would more than likely get killed off later. I seriously wish they had thought these decisions through.

The dev team of the prequel revealed that origibally the main cast were supposed to be a set of new characters but change them during development to becky and the other guy, but sadly forgot to adjust becky's personality due to miscomunication. The besy way to think RE0 is as an alternate timeline elsewhere game.

Yea I did find it kind of funny that Rebecca survived all of RE0 and in RE1 she kind of has a hard time doing this. Also it seems capcom only cares about Chris and Leon at this point. Jill is my favorite character and shes been MIA since RE5. I know revelations came out after RE5 but in RE5 is after revelations in the timeline and shes never really mentioned or seen again which is odd since her and chris are best buds. You would think he would mention something but nope. I also still feel like Wesker was wasted in RE5 since a lot of the previous characters who knew him and were affected by his actions dont get to close that chapter. They should've just handled 0 more carefully. The REmake is a masterpiece not just within the franchise, but as a remake. Capcom just doesn't handle the RE franchise the best. They should've worked harder to get Code Veronica out as the third mainline game cause...ya know...it is, Revelations 2 (as much I love it) adds nothing to the story, the 2&3 remakes cut more features and content from the original games than they added to them (The features and content that truly differentiated them from the rest mind you), we're on RE8 but still don't have a revelations 3 (which would tie re7 to the rest of the lore and make it feel less out of nowhere), and to add insult to injury, they're remaking re4 before code Veronica. They are remaking one of the most iconic and least requiring games PERIOD. Let's say survived characters but treat as dead when the game end is pretty common in RE. Rebecca and Barry along with Sherry are almost like that but fan recognize characters in early RE titles more so maybe that's why they appear in Revelation/Vendetta. Ada is quite tie to Leon character so she appear in almost everything Leon appear. You can see the pattern in later RE titles too.

I wouldn't say that is a hot take. The original series narrative effectively ended with CV. If RE4's Plagas had been a standalone story in an isolated village. The rest of the overarching story could have worked around it. Sadly, that's not the direction Capcom went in.

If the whole game had the tone of the opening village section, I would have been all in. These days, RE is far removed from its 'survival horror' roots. Which started with 4.

Like Skyrim for example, everything is dumbed down compared to Oblivion and Morrowind in terms of melee combat and magic and lore wise the only new books added talk about Skyrim while all other books are just reused from previous games. I know that Skyrim is the focus of... Skyrim, duh, but even Morrowind and Oblivion didn't focus on just Morrowind and Cyrodiil.
