Center column looked fully extended in Gavins video...that a common practice with that tripod? My worse fear getting water anywhere near my cameras. Hopefully it can be fixed. I'm still locked into the Manfrotto 200PL plates on most my stuff, not an arca fan at the present.
@JasonLorette Жыл бұрын
I use the Center column sometimes because I don’t like to extend the third set of legs that are really thin. Gavin is trying to convince me to get a Really Right Stuff clamp plate. Yeah it’s not fun dunking your camera let me tell yah. Update in my next vid. Thanks for watching! 😎📸

Based on this video I must be a professional 🤔. We were recently at a beach in South West WA (Western Australia). I was on a boat ramp photographing stingrays. One came right up to me as I was ankle deep in water. I slipped and went down - but triumphantly held my camera up so it didn’t get wet (salt water). The watching onlookers were very impressed 😂👏👏
@JasonLorette Жыл бұрын
Ha ha I think I’ve done that with a beer, lol. Yeah salt water in a camera would be horrible! Camera update coming in my next video, lens has been fixed. Thanks for watching! 😎📸

It may have still not worked, but, for future reference, the item is meant to be 'submerged' in rice. I mean, totally covered and surrounded by rice. For this camera/lens combo, at least 5 kilograms of rice would have been needed. In any case, I'm sorry this happened to you and hope it can be fixed. All the best!
@JasonLorette Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was a bit apprehensive to do that, worried about dust from the rice getting where it shouldn’t and then having a whole other problem. But, Nikon has it now and my fingers are crossed. 🤞🏻 Thanks for watching! 📸😎

@JohnDrummondPhoto Жыл бұрын
So sad about your camera. FWIW you need COMPLETE immersion of the camera within the rice for at least 3 days for the bath to have a chance to work. That's how my R5 survived a salt water dunking two years ago. I also rice-bathed the lens separately (it didn't live, sadly). Hopefully you'll never have to do this again!
@JasonLorette Жыл бұрын
Yeah it sure is a sickening feeling isn’t it!? Uggh salt water…yikes! The lens has been repaired by Nikon…next video is giving a camera update. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it! 😎📸

Would be better to have the camera in open air rather than locked in a ziplock bag where the moisture can't escape at all. Rice isn't magic.

Rice can be pretty amazing with wet electronics…that said the camera has already been sent to Nikon…update in my next video. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏻
