What pleased me so much in your blog is the use of ISO. I also purchased a vanguard tripod..( having seen how it performs)The two things that have helped me improve my image quality. That and learning my craft by visiting a small local lodge is stability and ISO. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Capturing our version of beauty ,also to share how you got the photo with others is an art. I enjoy your blog because of your ability to share an idea. I have found that my z8 works better when using ISO 64.+100.A tripod that 6:27 does not lose bits of its self or goes into phantom unscrew or unlock mode is key to getting the results I am pleased with. What is seen on a screen or in print is what we share. The vanguard tripod is a top tip. Thanks this was one thing that I got out of my finding your blogs . Cheers.

Hello, Unless you can see a nice sandy route it’s often safer to put your boots back on without your socks to protect your feet from unseen objects that might cut or damage your sole when fording. The boot won’t absorb much water, will be a bit damp, but will be fine with dry socks after a few minutes. Safe travels.

Bravo for using a creative POV for the Blaen Y Glyn image . Images like this, taken from angles above or below average eye level, really tie the entriety of a scene together, the pool leads the eye to the waterfall in the background.

5:49 in - "Waterfall of Echoing Voices," i.e., 'Lanthir.' My favorite. But all were quite beautiful. "Blaen Y Glyn" would've been, if not for too much foreground water foam. Another enjoyable watch Ms. Courtney. I sure wish there were trails of falls like that somewhere around here! 💜

I do have some plans to head into the mountains in the near future actually which I'm looking forward to! I try and dabble in coastal photography every so often but it's not something I enjoy, (at least not as much as other types of photography) but I'll keep it in mind and try not to turn into too much of a waterfall fiend ha! Thank you, Courtney, for such a wonderful video and for sharing your creativity and thought processes about composition. From the first fall, I particularly liked Flow, which had a real sense of depth. At the second fall, in Adjacent the two trees provided balance and the diagonal of the stream also seemed more defined. Blaen Y Glyn was very imaginative with the swirling pool in the foreground. I wondered whether it would work by blending two exposures, a slow shutter for the pool and the faster shutter as you used for the main fall. This was full of ideas for great waterfall photography. Thanks once again. 🙂

In Southern Wales under waterfalls spray, Courtney embarks on another photographic day. As the end of a weekend comes to a close, We observe her adventure and the path she chose. In Blaen y Glyn, a popular spot, Where people, apparently, throw their socks?🤔 A sock in a tree such a humorous distraction, Made its way out of the frame, with some digital subtraction. Off came her shoes, and her socks took flight, Crossed a freezing river, not such a delight! But Its the end of July we have to remember, being thankful for, we are not in November.🥶 Waterfalls roaring a captivating flow, As Courtney captures the magic of the show. Perfecting each shot, before the falling of the night, She danced with ferns, rocks and shadows to get it just right. So here's to Courtney, in the waterfall's might, For sharing your journey and sparking our delight. Your dedication to beauty and capturing it true, We Thank You Dear Courtney, for sharing your view.🙏

I like your choice of shutter speed in the last photo. I recently shot a small cascade in a local creek and must have taken fifteen or twenty images at varying slow shutter speeds. All of them seemed too milky and bland. Finally, I looked at my test shot which was taken at 1/30 of a second and there it was. Just what I was looking for.

Thanks Courtney, I often wonder if you ever blend your focus for one image, to keep sharpness from front to back? Moreso to keep ferns, ledges or flowers int he foreground sharp as the background? Unfortunately, some locations such as this here in western Canada with waterfalls often will have signage not to walk in the gorge itself (more for safety, as it can be a steep climb down in many locations. Thanks again, for these video's, showing us a little rain can still keep our spirit alive for finding wonderful compositions.

I really liked the live side by side comparison with the different compositions because it really helped to show the differences. Even though you didn't move too far, to me, the second one with the shorter distance between the cascades, looked more balanced. Great explanation and demonstration!

Do you have trouble with the orange camera bracket when trying to attach it portrait to the area swiss connection on your tripod... that gap for the flippy screen means too little bracket to attach... your gap seems smaller than mine for the Canon R5... always gives me trouble. Nice images! The one with the low angle and swirling water in the foreground could perhaps be even better if you took an image with a slightly longer shutter speed for the foreground and blended it with an image of the background with the shutter speed you had. Then the swirls would probably have appeared more.

Like you said, lots of potential there! If you revisit that spot, take some hip waders and get right in the water where it is shallow. There were a few spots that looked good. @@charlottemorley6535 Blean y Glyn Isaf (search that on Google maps) in the Brecon Beacons. A couple of miles from the far end (not dam wall end) of the Talybont reservoir. Immediately after crossing the bridge, there is a gate on your left - go through & up that way. i.e. with the river on your left.
