This video is a fundraising video for the Miners Museum in Glace Bay.
The trip to Glace Bay deeply touched our hearts. Beautiful friendship between White Lelou Media and the Miners Museum began from there. It is a very important Museum, keeping stories of friendship and heroism, tragedies and great successes. WE need to keep these memories!

I went down into the original mine before the museum burned down.. then again when they rebuilt it.. My Grandparents Lived in Glace Bay.. Turners were their last name. God I loved that place.

I can never forget my visit to this Museum.....I was one who came up from the depths with tears in my eyes.....Its an essential visit to understand the history of Cape Breton and the contributions these men had given... and the sadness and tragedy of their life their and the reason for this cruelty and human insensitivity ---profits for the banks who owned the mines .

I was born in Glace Bay, my maternal grandparents and great grandparents were General Store keepers from Scotland since 1900. My paternal grandparents were bakers . Both families served Glace bay in the best way they knew how. As a child growing up with coal miners in every other house. I thanked God every day that my father, grandfathers and uncles did not have to work in the coal mines. My school mates and neighbours lost a family member to the mines all too often. I could not fathom such loss on a regular basis.

A fine tribute. Thank you. In all of our recent years of going underground in Nova Scotia's open abandoned mines (very few are left), there isn't a single exploration you'll see on our channel where at some point underground I think about these men. All of the miners. Their bravery. Their incredible toil. The mines are a sobering concept - especially when you are deep in one. One thing is for sure - our group has always vowed to stay away from abandoned coal mines. Not that any are open in Nova Scotia (they have been well sealed forever)... but it's astonishing how dangerous they were - even in their operational years. Coal carries a legacy of blood, injury, and death. The miners were the backbone of our modern civilization. Respect.

You’ll never meet nicer men than Eric or Sheldon. I’ve volunteered the past two summers at the Miner’s Museum in the miner’s village, and sincerely enjoyed getting to know the guides.
