Cape Cod Canal: 1914-2014

It was a dream for more than three centuries - a canal across the isthmus of Cape Cod - until financier August Belmont and engineer William Barclay Parsons joined forces. Defying the skeptics, the sea-level canal without locks opened on July 29, 2014. This month’s featured video recounts the history of this bold endeavor on the occasion of its centennial anniversary.
