I typically don’t comment, but I just wanted to say that your channel has always been one that I always look forward to seeing uploads. Not because you guys have the best fashion tips and the coolest cars and the(painful) click-baits, but because you are so grounded and honest in this world full of (honestly) manipulators. Your entire family is so refreshing and your approach to life and art(because lets be honest, your films are art) is beautiful. Genuinely, even though you’ve always joked, you both are incredible people and it reflects in what you produce both in films and in the way your kiddos are. Anyway, Please don’t ever stop creating and don’t ever doubt yourselves.

The initial thought of the ‘irregularity of uploads” is how you’re going to earn ‘enough money’ but then I stopped and realised you’re merely reverting back to what KZbin used to be, creating videos that you love and know others will love, rather than upload as much as possible to earn as much as possible that many creators have slipped into.

32:08 A sentimental part of the video ending with zooming in on the little girl silently waving from the concrete floor of an old wooden shed transitioning to Rufus excitedly waving to the camera in his mother's arms just took my breath away. The film completely changes mood with Hannah's light-hearted tone replacing the sound track and voice over, it gives such an amazing juxtaposition of the two children, how different their worlds are and the lives they will lead, makes you ponder how who we are is beyond our control. I might be reading too much into it, that detail was so subtle and seamless it would be easy to miss, but that level of attention to detail just goes to show how much of a masterpiece this really is. Keep doing what you're doing Stef, even if you drop back to uploading once a month, if there's anything you think will help you continue to grow we'll all be on your side. The 1 video a week standard was something you set for yourself, none of us will hold you accountable to it, we're already spoilt with your pure artistry as it is and it's only getting better! Thanks for taking us on that journey of self-discovery with you, I have to say though, I think you're anything but 'basic', you seem like the kind of person you could sit down with a cup of tea with and have a philosophical discussion that lasts for hours. Take care

I´m a Cinematography student from Germany and oh my god steph. This video. Where to begin.. you truly manage to capture both sides of cape town, show true interest in people and give them a platform to let others now how it feels to be in their shoes, stunning cinematography, a lot of wise words sprinkled with a tiny bit of a British humor. There were many moments where I just sat here, watching this video, hearing your words - and got goose bumps. And that is something almost no director in my film school ever managed to do. After all those years of following you guys, this is my first comment on one of your videos and before I end this love letter I just want to say that I hope that you are proud of how your skills developed into what they are right now and even though there is always something more and better we can create I just hope when you read this you can stop for a second, think back and smile because of where you are right now. Never stop struggling and creating! wish you guys all the best! with love Laura

As a South African I’m touched that you have delved deeper into another side of our city - Cape Town is my home, I love it. But sometimes the way media continue to portray only the glamourous side of this city is sad because not acknowledging a greater part of this cities inhabitants does a disfavour to a large part of our community, culture and history. Thank you for punctuating the contrasting sides of my home and making me fall in love with its diversity all over again. This is a film I wish could be picked up by Netflix and made into a series. Quality of production, direction and flow was impeccable 🙌.

I'm glad you've found your balance. I remember when you didn't want to hold up a camera to vlog anymore and I was genuinely sad, because in my opinion it made your videos less personal. But how you now intertwine capturing the scenery and giving us a glimpse into your life at the same time - it makes me feel all kinds of things. I've been watching you for about 5 years now, and I have to say your videos now are the best you have ever made and it makes me so sad to see how you don't have more subscribers yet. What an unfair world.

@lottejohnson2504 жыл бұрын
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. The monologue at the end... you're not the only one who feels that the vastness of the universe is sometimes too vast and too inconsequential to how and what I am. But I don't think you need to be clever to understand that, nor be able to separate ourselves from the universe and it's god, no matter what god is to you or anyone else. I just find it funny, its exactly what I've been thinking about for the past couple months. But then again, leaving uni and coming back home does have a whiff of existentialism to it, whether you're already worried about your place in the world or not.
@louisegraham94 жыл бұрын
The end of this gave me chills and actually brought a tear to my eye, such a personal yet relatable description of life, existence and god, I loved it. As for the uploads, waiting for movies like this is not a problem, I loved your weekly vlogs but I hardly ever have time to keep up with them now that i'm busy on uni placements so I enjoy them as and when they come. I've enjoyed watching the channel and your family develop since i subscribed when Grayson was a toddler, and this is just another amazing step in this development. Keep striving and making things you are proud of.

Hello Michalaks, I don't mind waiting for a video as you just are the creators who just make the wait so worth it. Stef, I completely resonate with your perception of the God. I see it in small things and moments like the ones you had with your family at the end of a video. ❤️

The amount of effort and creativity that goes into your films is astronomically amazing and they have continued to be better and better every upload. I am always floored by how amazing you’ve done each time I watch! This film, is by far my favorite out of all of them! Stef, I am constantly blown away by how much time and effort to put into these and I am so happy with all the success you guys have seen! This film should be everywhere! The little town in Cape Town was beautifully shot and the story telling is out of this world! I hope one day, if you find yourself in the Chicagoland area, that we get a change to meet so I can meet the boys (who’ve grown up so fast), Hannah, and yourself just so I can show my gratitude for how your films have given me a sense of purpose in life and introduced me to the wonders of photo and filmmaking! I wish nothing but happiness for your little family and I hope you never stop doing what you all love! I hope the boys grow up to love an art or craft as passionately as you love film! Thank you and I look forward to the next one! A fan from abroad, Jessica

What a great video Stef! Definitely quality over quantity. I think my favourite was the township where they were talking about pride in their tribe, area and traditions. I think often we see what we want to see or something on face value, which could be poor housing or strange food for examples but actually you don't look at that bigger picture and you showed that. Sometimes we white wash something without realising we are the ones actually missing something. I live in NZ where there is locals tribes and they actually really important in the community, like everything some are more built up than others but as a country it needs to be built into our governance, planning etc, I think we are on the right track again but will very much depend on who you talk to and what area you are in.

I am beginning a journey to find myself, who I really am deep down. Not the reflection of what I wish people to perceive me as, but my true self is what I wish to find and pursue. The end brought me to tears, the beauty of those words. The perception of time, paraphrased in the beginning, struck me too. I can not put into words how mixed my feelings are about this journey that Im starting; anxious, scared, thrilled, excited, but the reassurance that I will always have time on my side in this endeavour was calming. Thank you for the video. - a young 20 year old, no fucking clue either who I am

I hope you see that you are made in the very image and likeness of God. You may currently have a different "perspective" of who God is, but I hope someday you will know who He truly is personally.
