We so wanted to go to Cape Town, but the reports of violent riots and "Kill the Boar" are all over American television. Alas, we canceled the October group trip. Wishing peace for everyone in South Africa.

How pricey is Cape Town and its surrounding areas? (And is Stellenbosch one of the surrounding areas?)

Cape Town and its surrounding areas is actually cheaper than Mexico. I was pretty shocked especially because nobody talks about this. I expected Cape Town to be somewhat pricey since most travelers from the US come here to do extravagant trips. And although the city is pricier than it’s surrounding areas we found nice restaurants typically cost about $15 USD per person and a 6 course meal (which is a thing in Cape Town) is about $40 USD per person. Stellenbosch is a surrounding area about 35 mins by car from Cape Town. You must check it out!
