4 years ago, I was inspired by John from the KZbin channel @HoundsofHowgate to walk the Cape Wrath Trail. Since then, I have watched many hikers walk this 235 mile, 37500 elevation gain collection of trails and put their videos on KZbin. These include Sarah from @FitForAdventure, Becky from @GirlOutdoors and Niall and Lisa from @TubbaTravels as well as many others like @HazeOutdoors and @GreysHikes5236
After turning 65 at the end of July 2023, I embarked on my 18 day attempt to join these other intrepid hikers. So join me as I drag my old body over 4x4 tracks, single tracks, pathless tracks, bogs, midges, river crossings and all the weather elements Scotland has to offer.
Oh, and since I'm from Glasgow, I've added subtitles to make it easier for folks to understand what the hell I'm saying!

Oykel Bridge Hotel did a delicious Cullen Skink in the bar. That waterfall crossing was difficult. Yes, that's where @tubbatravels fell and dropped the camera. I love Inchnadamph. Great hostel. Great video.

That was an epic day Iain. You covered some terrain there. No mean feat. What a great hostal at inchnadamph. Great episode.

I thought I'd camp along the way but Peter was on fire that day and wanted to get to Inchnadamph. So I thought I'd try. For sure though, if I did that section again I would stick to the river and go straight up! That winding route around the hill was silly!

Beg to differ, If you’ve any chance it’s with a map and compass. Route card? You need to know how to use it of course. Happy trails and hope you catch your bus.

With just a map and compass Michael in a white out where you can't really see anything to take a bearing on you'd be hard pushed to be able to navigate. Maybe you have more skills than me. I've done it with an altimeter compass and map so I could follow contour lines in limited visibility and that worked. Yep I got the bus as you will see! Cheers.

Hi Ian, brilliant mate, well done, that section certainly started of relatively easy but my god it got tough towards the end, especially in those conditions. Great news that the firing range is not operating on the day you hope to be there. All the best, Dave

Yeah, good news about the firing range. That section at the top in white out can be scary. I followed a track right to the edge of a ravine! Obviously to a viewpoint I followed by mistake!

Many years ago we went to stay with Irish/English friends in Seattle. We climbed Mt St Helens throuh the ash that was still quite thick on the upper slopes. Spirit Lake and the surrounding area was still covered in fallen tree trunks several years after the eruption. I also climbed a hill called Mt Dickerman up an amazingly constructed track which zigged and zagged up through the trees. I'm sure you know that hill..

Yeah , glad to report My St Helens has recovered! It was scarred for years. Yeah, been up Dickerman many moons ago! I remember it being tough on the legs!
