Steve Buscemi was in the Coens' last film, "Fargo", where he played a guy who never stopped talking. So in this one, they cast him as a guy who was constantly being told to shut up. 😂

If you really pay attention, the Dude only addresses Donny once during the whole film and it could well have been because the Dude knows Walter so well that he knows what his imaginary friend (and dead Vietnam war buddy) would say. The Coen brothers say Donny is real, but then again they pull stuff like that all the time. Either Donny is a figment of Walter's imagination (and the Dude is the best friend Walter could ever have because he's willing to play along) or the Dude is a dickhead who always ignores Donny.

I saw Raising Arizona (1987) as an kid with my dad and found it hilarious. Of course, i didn't know who The Coen Brothers were back then. But over 10 years later, i learned who and how great these sibling auteurs were. This was an incredible piece of work. Not your average caper and then some. Most would have not believed that this was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Huge honor for any cult classic and it is much deserved. There is a spinoff, "The Jesus Rolls" (2020). It's also the remake of a French film Going Places (1974), John Turturro reprises his role as Jesus Quintana, also wrote and directed it.

If this was the first movie you've watched with Jeff Bridges then you might want to check out one of his earliest movies "Tron", which was a cutting edge early Disney film with animation woven into it that would end up only happening once and never again due to the super expensive and difficult method that was used to produce it. This movie in fact pulled Disney's ass out of oblivion into high tech movies and the story was fairly well done too. It's cool, ground breaking and it stood the test of time.

"You human paraquat." - The Dude I hear about the from old hippies and comedian Joey Diaz. Paraquat was an herbicide that the the government sprayed, ostensibly to stop outdoor pot grows... If you got pot that had paraquat on it, it had bad physical reactions. This sounds like a throwaway line, but in some ways given how The Dude views weed, this is the worst thing The Dude can call somebody.

In 2020 John Turturro made a movie called The Jesus Rolls. He reprises his role as Jesus Quintana. His character is the only connection to The Big Lebowski. But it is actually a good story. It's worth looking at. ✌️
