I have a studio too and I can't tell you how much a cozy place to just unwind once you are done doing your art means. To sit, read and reference, and also to look/take in the studio and enjoy the aesthetic you created will fill your heart with overflowing gratitude. A sofa/ couch space also serves as a way to get people over, cause I realized how much people just want to be in your zone when you are working, and they find motivation for working on their stuff too, with you. Do consider it.💚

Yes, you need a couch! It’s such a great thing to have when you want to be in your studio, but also want to have a lazy/cozy drawing day, or if you need a nap between projects.

I love this space idea. Since I do not have furniture in my living room I may just create an art space I wanted to create my dance and workout space but I can create it in another space my living room is huge with super great light

I would put those two print tray/ draws side by side at the back of the room , put foam topped mdf on top (with a pretty fabric covering it)to make a sofa - day bed. With some cushions. Even studios need a comfy sketching nook x

Hey, in regards to your flat file cabinets, I put two together, side by side and reinforced the top with plywood, then put a twin mattress on top and made it into a daybed/couch, for those late nights and naps needed. It worked out well. Congratulations, great space.

Omg this whole time I didnt know you were in Philly! I just moved here :D such a great place. I was at MassArt in Boston with the last year and a half of school in online classes and it was tragic T-T because I’d finally signed up for clay classes that were then made online… how can you do clay classes online?? A good lick of paint & a clean would have been my first job, whatever your old workspace was I'm sure it wasn't as cold & depressing as this room is, those brick walls & ceiling...what was this room before, a prison?? Having your own space to work & create is an amazing thing and I'm sorry to be so negative but I can only speak as I find and the moment I saw the empty room it was so depressing and unloved. I've seen many videos where artists move into their new studios with either carpeted or hardwood floors and painted walls and straight away you get that warm & cosy vibe about the space...but sadly not in this one. You call it your beautiful space and I'm sure you will put your own mark on it and I wish you every success on this new chapter, this space obviously works for you and that's what's important, all the best to you.
