Rad video. Macaco is on my bucket list. I noticed that you're doing boxer breathing as you do certain kicks. Have you done a tutorial on breathing yet?

Pretty cool videos Macaquinho! Took me about a year to get this move. Lol. Still struggle with this move on my left side, usually end up twisting into a regular au but hopefully that will change with your tips on this video. Funny is that I actually know CM Bocao, he was at my first batizado like 2 years ago. I train under CM Molejo in Dallas, TX. Both really good capoeiristas. Axe brother!

Good to hear you are with CM Molejo. He came to my first Batizado, and developed a lot of respect for him. I'm looking forward to hanging out with you guys at some point in the future.

Sending muito axé from Sydney, Australia! Many thanks for the great breakdown, I'm going to refine my macacco with this! Would love to see an au de frente tutorial or ponte walkover tutorial, simple for your level! Axé!

Thank you Neil! I happy to hear people halfway around the world are finding this useful. I appreciate the feedback, and will place the au de frente on my list of future tutorials. I must admit, I have a lot of perfecting to do before I teach it. I'm excited about learning the move, and sharing how I learned with you guys!

I've been practicing capoeira for about a year now and I've found that one of the most troublesome areas for me is improving my Ponte. I have a bit of a deformed spinal cord where a few of my plates pinch in my lower back, which makes back bends extremely hard (But of course I can stick my head between my legs forward...)I can do the version of Macaco that my instructor taught me, which is similar to a grounded backwards Au, but am still unable to handle a lot of the more back intensive flips. Any tips for helping maximize the effectiveness of my stretches? I need to make my back more flexible....
The shoes you see on the video are Rainha, from Brazil. I believe they are for indoor volleyball, and they are also great for Capoeira. People from Capo groups all over the world covet these. I've heard stories of a mestres from Israel going to the Brazilian factory while visiting for a big Capo event, and buying the whole inventory to take back home for his people - that's how popular they are. While the Rainhas are great, they aren't the only shoes that work for Capoeira. They are also limited in quantity now a days. I also like Puma's Redon Move MMA shoes. They are fitted to the foot, and they don't have bulky soles or heels - They also look wicked cool. Amazon has them on sale for just $40 - www.zappos.com/puma-redon-move-slip-on-mma-white-peacoat (and no I'm not related to Amazon in any way, I just happened to be looking for shoes for myself) I hope this helps Lance.
