Low ratings for a well written, well acted, thought provoking show can only mean SyFy did a horrible job of getting the show in front of the public viewing audiences or it speaks volumes about the public viewing audiences. Given the plethora of "reality tv" shows which keep airing for seasons on end I am going with the second option.

I recall the low ratings were only initially, also they were shifting their focus more towards blood and chrome during the time.

I thought Caprica lacked imagination. Primarily due to it's budget and the fact that the show had to be different from BSG. The show did very little to actually explore the Twelve Colonies which would have likely increased it's value among BSG fans. The concept of the show while intriguing was simply not interesting enough for many to watch for an entire season. The best content of the show that's in the show was undoubtedly the U-87 Cyber Combat Unit as it was one of the only indicators that the show was indeed in the BSG universe. But even then it's story was intertwined with a conflicted teenage girl (That's never been done before lol). The last 5 minutes of Apotheosis was possibly the best part of the show. Had the show went on for a Second Season I think it would have been AMAZING. The buildup to the Cylon Revolution would have been incredible.

SyFy didn't really want to make the show. This was in the midst of their network rebrand and they didn't want to greenlight it. However the BSG creators had a contract for a spinoff and guaranteed first season. So they had no choice but to make it. In return SyFy marketed it as an entirely different show than what it was. This turned a lot of viewers off and the ratings tanked.

I could have watched 4 seasons of a show that takes place right after this one. Too bad it got canceled and we'll never know what happens

I always remember watching this show in AXN channel 14 yrs ago. Listening to this brought me back again, it makes me wanna cry in nostalgia because I miss 2010 so much when i was 17 yrs old, now i'm 30 🥲🥺

@@CooperMcKay An underrated prequel to Battlestar Galactica. It got cancelled due to ratings, maybe because it was a quite slow-paced storyline set hundred years ago before the main event, so the audience at that time found it bored. If it was made today, it could have a chance for more than 2-3 seasons. But well, .. the show's too good while it lasted.

Syfy most likely cancelled it because they weren't making enough profit. Frankly, as much as I LOVE this show, I could understand Syfy's decision.

JSoulstorm One of the reason I think they yanked "Caprica" was that there weren't enough space battles. A good amount of "Galactica's" audience could give two shits about the deeper messages and issues the show dealt with; they just came for the shootouts, and "Caprica" just wasn't their show. Unfortunately it was big enough of a contingent to force it off the air. Personally, I wasn't one of those, and I would have loved a second season.

Can't really hear the cool bass line in this KZbin video. If you watch the episodes on DVD, the bass line is very clear, in the later part of the song.

show was cancelled because of dark influences and higher powers. it was sending messages and disclosing info that was hitting to close to "the agenda"

I wanted to like this programme but it was just garbage and so snooze inducing. How it was written by the BSG team is beyond me.
