The most interesting night of sleep of our lives at our first capsule hotel! Ivan has always wanted to stay at a capsule hotel in Japan. He loves how futuristic and unique they are. Madison on the other hand, is pretty nervous about getting claustrophobic and not waking up to her alarm for their early morning flight.
We stay at the 9 Hours Capsule hotel in Narita Airport in Tokyo because our flight to Sapporo in the morning is so early the trains won't be running! Taxis in the city are so expensive we're actually saving money staying here!
After check-in, we are separated into Men's or Women's sides. In the locker room we dig into our goodie bags to find pajamas, towels, slippers, locker keys, toothbrush and toothpaste, earplugs, and rules! We stash our luggage in the lockers, and begin a tour of our capsule! They're very small, but it is so fun, you feel like you're on a playground as a child, or in a futuristic astronaut camp!
After touring our capsule hotel room, we head out into the Narita Terminal 2 Airport Mall to find dinner. We visit the Pokemon store with exclusive Narita Airport merchandise, eat Japanese curry, and of course get dessert at 7-11!
At this point the capsule hotel is a hopping place! So many people have checked in, but it is like a silent retreat of sorts, so many people, but nobody is speaking. After a tour of the bathrooms, we shower and head to bed for a very interesting night's sleep. Despite sleeping AT the airport, we still barely make our flight in the morning. But that's all part of the madventure!

Welcome to madventure, we're MADison and iVEN (okay it is spelled Ivan, but pronounced like VENture) a husband and wife living the adventure we have been dreaming of, despite the fact that it makes us sound completely mad. For us that looks like traveling full time and starting our own businesses.
For Madison, a former reality TV producer, the dream is the madventure community, connecting people through travel, experiencing new cultures, and trying the best foods from carts, stands and restaurants all over the world. She hopes to encourage others to follow their maddest most adventurous dreams, whatever they may be! For Ivan, a former NASA engineer, it is creating an engineering product that will change the world! Travel and food are two of our biggest passions, so on this channel we will be traveling the world, and staying awhile to experience what life is actually like living other places. We're excited to have you on board for the delicious, culture filled, madventurous times that will ensue! Let's madventure! xoxo

Ahhh you’re right, and he had that “Smelting Stick”. She wanted to send Harry to Stonewall High. Which is way less memorable of a name haha. Good catch!

I’m not sure about climbing into those pods. Especially without a good airflow.

Ivan said on the men's side it was mostly men in their 20s and 30s, but I was surprised on the women's side to see a lot of women around your age staying there! They did put them on bottom bunks though.

I saw that some capsule hotels have fans built in to the capsule! If we stay at another one, I will definitely be looking for that!

I have to get up at nite to use potty. Do not think climbing in and out would work for me! I had claustrophobia just looking at space. What did the nite cost in U.S. dollars? Love your eagerness to try it all. Enjoyed the video.

That was definitely not my favorite part! Getting up in the night, trying not to make too much noise and wake others up, then running into so many people while half awake in the bathroom haha. It was around $65 a person, so there were a lot of solo travelers saving money by staying there. Since we had to pay for two people, it would have been cheaper to stay at a more conventional hotel near the airport, but the experience was too interesting to pass up! Thank you!!! :)

I’m not sure I could sleep in a pod. Kinda reminds me of a closed MRI machine. I’d like to know what others think. Please comment and let me know if you would like to sleep in a pod or not?

I would love to know that too! An MRI machine is a good comparison hahaha, but you ARE at least allowed to move. There ares some capsule hotels in Japan that have sensors and cameras too, doing a kind of sleep study for you while you stay there, so those are even MORE like MRI machines hahaha.
