Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Combinations | Summer 2020

You asked to see it, so today I'm sharing my Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Combinations: Summer 2020! If you're someone who is looking to build a colorful capsule wardrobe, whether for Project 333 or to have a more cohesive, minimalist wardrobe, this video will come in handy! I put together more than 30 summer outfits with a 14 piece capsule wardrobe, and though I admit I was skeptical that it would all work together, I ended up loving the results! This is my favorite, and the most comfortable, summer capsule wardrobe I've ever had. I hope it serves as inspiration for you!

I love taking items that have a lot of colors and pairing them with every single color in the print. It gives more options than one would think!

To find the number of outfit combinations you multiply the number of options in each category. So for example 5 tops, 4 bottoms and 2 pairs of shoes gives 5*4*2=40 combinations.

Does that apply with the layers also? What if you use a layer sometimes but not always?

@@vazq_Fernanda Yes, you can just count not using a layer as another option. :) If you have 3 layers then you have 4 options for layers. Then for each of the 40 outfit combinations you have 4 options: no layer or one of the 3 layers, giving 4*40=160 combinations.

Might be my favorite capsule yet! I keep staring at that yellow jumpsuit wondering if it would look good on me, but I have yet to find a jumpsuit that fits me. Looks great on you, though! Really enjoy your videos.

I'm so glad you like it! It's so colorful and fun. Jumpsuits are tricky, they either fit you perfectly but they are uncomfortable when you sit, or they don't give you the most flattering shape. I still have to get this one tailored, but I like to find something that fits me right up top and then bring it down with a tailor. Everlane has some beautiful ones, and this one is from Loft. I hope you find one soon! They are SO comfortable.

The brick red dress looks so good on you. And I love your new white sleeveless tee, sandals, jumpsuit etc. The leopard shorts are perfection. What if you buy cool black flat sandals? I feel you would get a lot of wear. Yes, buy new black shorts. Black shorts looks so good as part of your capsule. Not a fan of your sleeveless denim vest (?). Looks too small. The proportion seems off. Stupid opinion, I know.

No opinion is stupid! It is perhaps a bit short. I like the cropped look because it evens out the proportions of my body. My torso is really long and my legs are average, but if I wear shorter tops or higher waisted things, it evens them out a little bit, and I like the look!

Hi there! You know, I've never counted, but I think I should because I get asked that question all the time. At this point I've showed most of my wardrobe on the channel, except for a few statement pieces. I would say maybe between 60-70.

Okay so I'm a total nerd and I did the math. Even without the jumpsuit and dress you would have 96 combos! You just multiply the items together to find total outfit combos. So 4 shirts × 4 bottoms x 3 outerwear (the additional one accounts for when no outerwear is worn) x 2 shoes=96!

Hello Fernanda! I've found your videos to be the best inspiration to actually start a capsule wardrobe! I wanted to ask you what type of bra do you recommend for the tops that show shoulders. I noticed you used a lot of them, and never showed a strap. I would like to wear more "open" tops, but I don't know what type of bra would be appropriate for it to not be perceptible. Hola Nadia! I am wearing a strapless bra with all of those. When picking one, you have to make sure it fits you a little tight (so it actually works and doesn't fall!) and if you can, find one with actual cups (as opposed to a bandeau strap) so that you can wear it with a lot of tops. A good quality bra will make the whole difference. I hope this helps!

So, I might have missed it, but I think you may be able to use that white belt to add a pop to at least a couple more of outfits you modeled! I did have one question. Do you use the same capsule the whole summer or do you double your capsule to get closer to the Project 33 #?

You're right! I didn't do it for the video but I will try it! I have a little more than I have here, but not by much. I have 3 more dresses this summer that I am also wearing an a couple of tops that are so unique they don't really go with many things, so I don't include them in my capsule. I just posted a video on P333!

I like this wardrobe but noticed you don’t have any sleeves. I live in hot climate too but find I need sleeves for my casual wardrobe. Do you not wear sleeves in the summer? Also is this your combined work and weekend wardrobe?

I personally don’t like having my shoulders covered because it makes me hot 😰 But also, this capsule was built specifically for summer during Covid pandemic, and I had lost my job, so it worked. That’s why it’s important to build for your actual circumstances, that will make the wardrobe most successful!
