worst job i've ever had, stuck with 20 men for months , no alcohol, shitty captains attitude sometimes without escape or venting, crying on sign ons, entertainment facilities at prisons way better than ships, no net for weeks or months on deep routes and no one gives a fu''k about you as a sailor , except some nutsacks at an organization of some sort giving you 10000 new rules , obligated courses and regulations annually on how to be better prisoner /sailor so they can sell their products and make bucks out of sailors stupidity , beside your wife/gf soon or later will be cheating on you coz they are human and again no one gives a shit about you as a sailor (4-6 months away from land) if not more for less ranking prisoners, only one positive side and nothing else is :you sign out with months of cumulative average salary, if you are young, and you want travelling job, see the world , join the aviation instead, one more thing , they will be always a look out for young blood coz the possibility to stay working on ships after few years is low , as a human no one like to stay in prison, and no you will not be filthy rich in few years, you will be fine money wise, and you will spend when you are on land to reduce the madness and mental fuckups you developed while being onboard for many month , its only good for someone who has absolutely zero hope to work on land or have decent job on land, otherwise its not worth it, i work on land and my salary now is double what i used ot get as 2nd officer and half stressful
