The difference with Spider-Man and Doomsday is that Spider-Man was conformed already, Doomsday wasn't. So it's not Marvel favortism, just people were mad to have the big bad spoiled in Batman v Superman.

It's nothing like the Doomsday reveal. Spider-Man has been confirmed to be appearing for a long time now and there are fans out there, that are not as nerdy as the rest of us, who will now go see the film because of Spider-Man's appearance where as no one is going to BvS to see Doomsday. Completely different scenarios. Doomsday being shown was a mistake because it took away from the element of Batman going at it with Superman by showing them teaming up, which basically tells everyone that there will be no winner they'll just set aside their differences and fight together. Showing Spider-Man has taken nothing away from the core element of the Civil War story line they're setting up.

So how is a character that helped move the plot along forced in when a character that was all for fan fare not? I am an enormous Spider-man fan but even I could see that he had been thrown in only because of his movie coming up. He had no other role than that. One of the biggest points of the Civil War story arc was Spidey's identity reveal which he did not do in the movie. When you mentioned that "solid plot" you forgot to mention how Tony decided to flip flop on his beliefs in Ironman 2 because he supposedly killed a teenaged kid yet put another teenaged kid directly in harms way to fight the very people that helped him killed that teenaged kid in the first place. Solid.

Spider-man on the other hand was confirmed during preproduction, which had a lot of people talking. Villains are often shown in trailers but only when necessary to promote the movie.. Revealing Doomsday was not really necessary as the hype was already massive for this movie..

And for the costume they wanted something new, and as much as i loved TASM2 costume i think its cool to see something else than the big eyes. This isnt a spiderman movie so its cool to see a new take on the costume without having to affect the character too much, and its a great homage to steve ditko and Romita sr.

His eyes aren't "too small". It's the oldschool throwback. They're the Steve Ditko/John Romita Silver Age design (You can see the same style in the 1990s cartoon). But if you grew up with the MacFarlene 1990's Modern Age comic style, I can see how that might throw someone off.

I think showing Spider-Man was actually a good move. It'll get images out so that the hardcore fans who are so uptight about it can get used to the new look AND it showcases the stunts that will actually be real! It's short and sweet, and it's an intro to the other characters, too. It's the last trailer, so I think it's the right time. (I LOVE how they took inspiration from the original comics and it just really reminded me of Spectacular Spider-Man, one of Spider-Man's best cartoons that has been released.)

The key difference between Spider Man and Doomsday being shown in the trailer is that the entire point of Batman VS Superman, it is Baman Vs Superman, not the sub text, obviously batman fighting superman will be the MAIN conflict in the movie, and take up the first and second Act, they likely showed us the last 15-30 mins of the film where Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman team up to fight Doomsday, also he was just a rumor, while with Spider man, we knew he was confirmed to be in the movie, and the entire point of the film isnt resolved in this trailer, we dont see what happens after the MAIN conflict is over, Spider Man does NOTHING to dramatically change the narrative. As for the look, Im not a huge fan of how he looks but whatever. Also Grace, are you sure you didnt see Spider Main in any thumbnails? Lol

This is totally NOT the same as the Doomsday spoil. The Doomsday spoil ruins the "versus" part of the movie. it ruins a central part of the plot It tells us that the VS ends and they team up with Wonder Woman and all become friends. Spiderman was much more known to be in this movie to a point that everyone was always asking where he was. Now that he has been shown no plot has been given and there is little surprise.

Actually, the eyes on his mask are identical in size to the way John Romita, Sr. drew them in the 60's & 70's. Looking at Spidey's mask close-up, and in HD, makes for one awesome comparison to my classic comics from the 70's. I started reading Spidey comics in 78, so this is one sweet fan service for the Silver Age Spidey fans. Even the way the white area on Spidey's eyes change in size is a throwback to that era, as John Romita, Sr. and Steve Ditko both used to change the shape and size of the white on his mask, as a way of expressing Spidey's personality. Up close in HD, it's clear that they appear to be some cool camera shutter type lenses. I'm assuming that when the white area gets smaller, it's a zoom effect for near telescopic vision. That's something that could come in handy in Spidey's world, and with him being a genius, not to mention a nifty photographer, he could pull it off. I can't wait to see Stan Lee's reaction. In my opinion, this is the definitive costume. It's definitely my favorite so far, with the Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume trailing a close second.

I think the big difference between the Doomsday and Spider-Man reveal is that with BvS trailer the Doomsday reveal changed what we knew about the plot at that point. It had been previously marketed as simply Batman and Superman fighting and ruined the payoff that they were going to eventually team up and work together which would have been likely revealed in the 3rd act or so. Spider-Man does not change the plot really, it adds a character people not knowledgeable about the online fandom didn't know about. Now most people wanna see more about the Marvel Spider-Man where the Doomsday thing was a rumor and changes the overall plot of Batman fighting Superman to Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman start to form the Justice League.

+Brad Paris I'm glad a lot of people are pointing this out in the comments. People are not being Marvel fanboys if they're fine with this but not the Doomsday reveal. The incidents are different. As you say, we all knew Spidey was in this movie so it wasn't a spoiler. Doomsday was a MAJOR spoiler, involving a character that many fans didn't want to be in BvS in the first place, because he's an iconic Superman villain.

Great reaction Grace I love that you point out the trailer has similar issues to B v S trailer 2 but the internet will react differently because of general bias towards Marvel and against DC. This trailer was a bit dull, very dull to be honest, and Spiderman was just weird looking. First trailer was wonderful, I really like the music and the tone is sets. After seeing more of the conversation that leads to Stark telling Cap he wants to punch him in the teeth, that whole scene seems off. Like something I'd see in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm smelling another AoU here, not good.

What i really love about this spiderman (well so far anyway) is that he looks and sounds really young. What i loved about spiderman was that he is a kid. With toby mcguire there was no way that could have been present and even with garrfield it was muted. This one really looks like a baby and I love him for it.

I don't really see how you can say this is equivalent to the "Doomsday reveal." The Doomsday reveal represents the 3rd act big bad, it gives away a significant amount. We all know Spidey is in this, we didn't know Doomsday was. Furthermore we still have virtually nothing concerning the overarching plot with ZEMO and Crossbones. So in reality we still know very little about Civil War. IMO this is the perfect trailer because it doesn't give you TOO MUCH, There are still a lot of unknowns.

I don't think Marvel screwed up as bad as DC. You saw spider-man, but can you tell why is he there? How? How is he introduced into the movie? Is that his first appeareance? Cap knows him at this point already? How ironman gets to know him? I know nothing. But DC... In one trailer they showed Doomsday, revelead that Lex created him using Zod's body, showed that he is the reason batman and superman stop the fight and even more stuff if you think about it. They told us that superman was meeting him and wonderwoman for the first time in that scene. They put Doomsday IN CONTEXT! Spiderman was revealed, sure... but no context! Nobody knows what is going to happen to him. Two very different scenarios, not the same at all.
