i think because "Winter Soldier" is such a strong, standout sequel, it really kind of eclipses the heart and wonderful character moments of "Captain America". say what you will about "Captain America" being bland or lacking in grandiosity, but it's anything BUT a cookie-cutter MCU origin film. Steve Rogers wills himself into heroism. by the final frame of "Winter Soldier", Rogers is the MCU's most formidable, relatable, courageous and compassionate hero. not hardly so with "Iron Man 2" or "Thor: The Dark World". when Steve Rogers goes, somebody's gonna have some big goddamned shoes to fill -- the shoes of a good man chosen for greatness. and who never once turned away from that calling. gray video, guys! thanks for the memories.

Before the 2010s, people would think of Captain America similarly to how they think of Aquaman, cheesy and lame. Since the MCU's adaptation of him, especially in The Winter Soldier and Civil War he has quickly become one of the coolest and most badass Marvel heroes. Thanks to Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers, he's actually become my favorite of the Avengers.

Steve and Buck are both probably the most beautifully written characters. Especially because Bucky is so complex, he has so much inside his head, and he wants to fix that. But he can't. Steve, however, wants to do everything that's right. But he.. Broke when he saw Bucky in Winter Soldier. He has PTSD, which is beautifully written.. But he's also split between two worlds. When he lost Peggy, Steve lost what was left of the past- besides Bucky, that is. But, when Bucky went back into cryo.. He lost that too.

No matter how the story ends whether it ends like the comic or not Steve Rodgers is always the better man and always more than a shield.
@comicsfan62787 жыл бұрын
The shield is a representation of what Steve thought fighting in a War means, Civil War made him realize that if a team can be ripped apart that easy. That very well in fact may not be enough to keep the world in tact as he views it, he stands for Freedom in its purest form and like very few is willing to put that on his back and carry it. His basis for truth has been tested many times, but I think he has maintained that better than anyone. Natasha Buck and Sam are so loyal to him, because they that what he is doing is bigger than any one particular individual. Now the shield has to go away, because now he's got to alter that way of thinking somewhat, as much as it pains me to admit this. I believe Rogers will be the one to fall to Thanos, I think he'll be there to push them forward. Because really it started with him, Stark will realize the Avenger are needed now more than ever before. And Steve won't need the Shield necessarily, but when it's all said and done they'll all look to him for Guidance, and as always he will rise to the occasion.

My favourite part is at 5:30 when Cap utters the famous "I can do this all day" line. It cuts from Bucky grabbing Iron Man's foot to the 1943 alleyway scene where he protects Steve from the bully, then cuts back to Cap returning the favour by tossing Iron Man to the ground. Powerful moment, and it's like Steve is defying Zemo's statement of "I lost everyone...and so will you".
@endosym54146 жыл бұрын
If you think about it all Captain America storylines in the MCU revolve around Bucky, the first time he becomes Captain America for real, the push for him to go after red skull even more, the whole second and third movies are about the winter soldier and even Cap's part of the infinity war storyline goes, through losing his best friend once again, but their friendship survived time, hope it survives through this as well.

I agree, besides Steve is no more Cap, so the 4th movie would be pretty forced tbh. However they should continue developing Steve's character and the dynamics between him and Bucky, make Bucky!Cap happen and then make a buddy movie with these two (plus Falcon, of course). This kind of role swapping would be so much fun to watch and it'd somehow guarantee that Stevie will be still appearing on the screen, cause the new trilogy would be his place in the MCU. Idk, I just don't want to lose him after Infinity War :'((

I can't get over this video, I just can't, and there are three reasons why: 2:18 where Bucky says "that little guy from Brooklyn..." juxtaposed right before his fall, and 3:24 where there is complete darkness before the Winter Soldier replies to his commands in Russian and then Bucky opens his eyes, and "I thought you were more than a shield?/ We'll see." Summation: complete and comprehensive. Most compilations are lucky to have one iconic punch-you-in-the-throat transition. Yours has three. You did a superb job at picking the best film beats.
