Everyone praises Jack, but Barbossa also added a ton to the movies. Frankly, I like him damn-near as much as Jack.

Jack is not bad, however he is a bit too soft for a pirate. His funky and eccentric personality may be interesting, but sometimes I miss his serious side. Barbossa is more a classic pirate. He understand what a crew wants what makes him a good leader. He is also a very talented swordfighter :)

They are bestfriend in a way. Hector was jack's first mate. From what I heard, first mates are like right hand man and are very close to the captain which is why hector's betraying makes it emotional for jack. Also from what I heard, jack was lord of sea before Barbosa and later Barbosa became a lord of sea too by beating a Russian pirate. And that's when tension between them started because it was like "there can't be two lords at a same ship at a same time" stuff and while jack initially didn't care about titles Barbosa did and hence betrayed jack to become captain of the ship. Also from what I heard, Barbosa technically didn't break the code and stuff like keeping jack alive with one bullet being his attempt to not break the code stuff which was how he was able to not get targeted by Jack's father who's basically the keeper of the code and stuff. But that gives question to why bill turner cursed Barbosa when even the keeper of the code who is Jack's father let Barbosa go. Did bill misunderstood which was why he cursed Barbosa and stuff but he got his ass handed and Barbosa was still able to keep his ass which might hint that bill was wrong of thinking Barbosa break the code?

Jack is probably the only one knew Barbossas first name. The other possibility is Jack's crew heard his first name before but decide to call him Barbossa because they voted him as Captain of the Black Pearl and they want to show respect to Barbossa

Frankly I like Barbossa more. He is not goofy as Jack, in fact, dude is quite serious. But his sarcastic and somewhat fearsome demeanor and being one of the most calculated pirate, almost the same as Jack, makes him one of the very few, if not the only one, who Jack has to think twice before messing with. Barbossa and Jack were THE duo that make the franchise as we know it.

They have a really weird relationship. I think Jack didn't kill Barbossa because he got his revenge for the Pearl. I also like that Jack and Hector aren't very close to each other but Hector still sharing his drink with Jack was cute :)

From what I heard when Barbosa betrayed jack, they both were lord of the sea. And there was thing like "there can't be two lord in a ship at a same time" stuff. While jack didn't cared about titles, Barbosa did and hence betrayed jack to become the only lord of the ship and stuff. And it might be the reason why jack kinda like forgave Barbosa even tho the betrayal from Barbosa hurt him alot especially because he was jack's first mate which is basically like a brother to the pirate and also right hand man. Also from what I heard, since he was also a lord he technically didn't break the code to take blackpearl which was why he was able to get away from the keeper of code which is basically Jack's father. But it means bootstrap bill turner misunderstood Barbosa breaking the code and just curse him for nothing😂.

Yes and no! Barbossa is still an evil person just had different goals and he doesn't really care about Jack but he respects him and is willing to team up with Jack if he has too! Same thing with Jack willing to team up if they have no choice but they are not friends by any means and like I said Barbossa is still an evil person just with different goals
