I'm lucky. I was too young for Howdy Doody and too old for Sesame Street. The Captain was my man!

Me too, the theme music always put me in a good mood. Sometimes I feel I learned as much, or more from the Captain, as I did my teacher.

Would have been 5 years old when this aired. I've looked for images of the Treasure House and the front yard, especially the wood chest over the years. It's great to see them compared to my memory. The thing that surprised me is that desk and the wood chest seem so much smaller than I remembered. Mr Moose and Bunny Rabbit would use the wood chest when outside.

6:19 -- The song featured in the Grange Explorers Club scenes is "Go-Go-Po-Go" by Percy Faith & His Orchestra. It is the B-side of his #1 hit "The Theme From 'A Summer Place'"

THANK YOU for sharing this incredibly rare episode of Captain Kangaroo, from the era in which most people remember fondly. Be aware that the Saturday episodes weren't aired in color until later in 1967. This is wonderful. 2:33 the Captain's billboard has been cut and at 22:15, the commercial has been cut, for Armed Forces rebroadcast. The Tootles the tugboat segment can also be seen during another existing episode.

I wonder why the Saturday episodes did not change over to color until about a year after the weekday show.

@@MrJoeybabe25 I don't know. I have been told, but cannot confirm, that the Saturday episodes were reruns beginning as early as 1965 or so through later in 1967. Again, I cannot confirm that statement.

I too was 5years old when this aired,if we could turn back time, simple and safe for kids to watch, better than the perverted garbage they have today.👌👍

Can you please post more of these? You can't get them anywhere else. And are you editing them down or just removing commercials?
@thetreasurehouse1742 Жыл бұрын
No, the edits were done because this is a print which was sent for rebroadcast to the children of the Armed Forces overseas.

Does anyone have the clip of where a sea lion visits the Treasure House and he gets loose. Mr. Green Jeans ends up chasing him with a broom while the Captain sits in a rocker and rolls with laughter? I saw it on a bloopers show in the 80s.

Anyone know who that singing puppet is in the lower-right corner with the hat and curls? It looks familiar. I wonder if it was around four-to-six years later when I was watching?

I do not believe this was from 1967. I’m going to say 1963 or four.
