Carol danvers aka captain marvel is awesome. I have issues 1 to 14 of her comicbook series when she was still known as miss marvel way back in the late 70s. Im waiting to get hold of issues no 15 to 28. They are being reprinted as marvel epic collection. Volume 1 has no 1 to 14 and vol 2 will have no15 to 28.

There's a fabulous sequence from the comics I'm pretty sure that scene was referencing. Carol all alone in space, planet behind her, broadcasts this brief speech: "These are a peaceful people but I am a woman of war. If you move against them, you move against me. I am willing to die here today, for this cause. I have made my choice..." *shot shifts behind her to show a thousand-strong fleet of ships coming at the planet* "... now you make yours." I really, *really* want a variation of that in the next film!
