Every since I did my homework on Carol Danvers, I have become an even bigger fan of Captain Marvel. I believe Carol Danvers is the single most versatile Avenger to enter the MCU. I enjoyed the Captain Movie. Like everyone, I could have nitpicked through flaws in the movie, but l let myself enjoy it and came away entertained. If someone just doesn’t like all things Captain Marvel, that’s fine. But the idea that the Captain Marvel movie and actress that portrayed her, deserves such hate is just ridiculous.

The backlash on you tube happened because someone said she should have smiled in the movie posters and she asked , would people say that if she was a man. I don't know details but she said something about white men and after that there was a campaign to say negative things about Brie and the movie, before the movie came out. Maybe they wanted to make sure the movie made no money. So, this was just revenge for something she said because she was told she looked too stern and serious in poster and trailer. I loved this movie but I think some of the reasons why people try to hate on this is because it has such feministic themes. Like the standing up despite everyone telling her no, you can't do this. The constant defiance in the faces of men, the street whistler who she steals the bike from. She's just constantly making feminist moves and to me I think that's why some people don't like her. They're not used to those things being so prominent in this type of culture. Like even with black Widow, we don't get a ton of character from her. We get her character growing but a lot of it is from films where she isn't the main character which is huge. (Also is why I'm excited for the BW movie). And plus, those movies are directed by men. People like to say that that doesn't matter but it _does._ Representation is so important. But I digress. My point is, is the whole theme and characterization of Carol Danvers is based around these sexist acts from others and her feministic responses. I think it throws people off and makes some feel significantly threatened. But in the bad way. (Like I feel threatened but I feel threatened in the _oh my god she's so amazing!_ and not the _oh my god she's such a powerhouse and she could kill me with her being this strong I need her to stop and put her down_ kinda way).

It is funny how FANS, who WANTED Brie to be Captain Marvel, now suddenly dislike her. From all the news, rumors and such about Brie and Captain Marvel, I bet only half of them are true. I have followed Brie and her career (especially Captain Marvel) for quite some time now, and I sense NO feminist or hatred towards men or anything of any kind. The rumor about the Avengers cast not liking her, seems to be false as well. In fact, Chris Evans - Captain America himself - worked with Brie in the past and loved the idea of her being Captain Marvel. And from what I gather, she does seem to get along with the other cast quite well...Yes, she said something that could be described as being offensive. HOWEVER, I am white (and 40) and I am not offended in the slightest. She was just saying that the movies might not be for everybody. Nothing more, nothing less. At least, that is how I see it... Either way, I watched Captain Marvel the other day and I simply LOVE it. DEFINITELY going to add this movie to my dvd collection once it comes out...
