Legorocks99 Gio hyped up the Canucks subreddit so much about drafting Quinn Hughes. Going into it we all wanted him. Baaaaad. And we all knew he was within our range. So it was a possibility. But man I can't tell you how hyped I was when I remember finding out we had drafted him. I knew he was going to crush it. Hughes is the the guy this team has never had... a true elite #1 defenseman.

I swear I didn’t think he would get past Montreal or Arizona. Before the draft I couldn’t even comprehend him getting to Detroit, so to then see them pass him up I was like “holy ****”

A lot of people malign Jim Benning for his time as Canucks GM, but getting Hughes was a brilliant move

he got us a pretty amazing core, Hughes Boeser Demko, Miller Pettersson. But he also drafted lots of bad picks
