Great advice Roy. First class operation and skipper!

Roy is the man, did an 8 and a couple 10, a few 14 and a 22 day with him and he is the real deal. I've done a couple other trips with billy santiago and we caught me more fish but i think we got lucky. i prefer the royal star on short trips but on the longer trips the RP is the way to go.

I also love the Royal Star & the RP!!! They are the only multi-day boats I go on! I’ve been on most all of the SD boats & there are none better! Crew is OUTSTANDING & FOOD IS ROCKIN’!!! Stay away from the Top Gun 80 crew is strange at best & the food is worse than D rating cafeteria crap!!! When dispatching a tuna they beat it with a 3foot pipe that had a giant bolt screwed to one end…WTF!!! Ever hear of a spike ya flip flop (if you’ve seen the crew you will know what I mean by flip flop)!!! Anyway, I’m not a big shit talker but stay away from the Top Gun!!! GO WITH THE BEST…ROYAL STAR or ROYAL POLARIS…NAME SAYS IT ALL!!!

So, my Lexa hd 400 8.1 or a 7.1 would not be good for iron's?

Could work but far from optimal. Fast gears but little power if you’re on better grade fish you’re at a disadvantage. Small light gear fun on larger fish, but on a big boat too many things working against you.
