Couple questions for you: Do you operate in IMC between the more established airports? Are there any similar operators in the area (SE Asia/Oceania) you'd recommend? I have about 1500 hours and am very much thinking about applying to Susi Air in about a year's time. Very cool video.

Hello ! I ll try my best to answer. We are legally an VFR operator (Commercial SE with pax...) so night time and IFR time are not allowed. You can imagine that sometimes with the unpredictable tropical weather, you can request to shoot an ILS, considering that it is your safest option. And all the pilots are IFR qualified (allow in Ferry Flights). It also helps in busy and international airports, when you are sequenced between airliners and have to comply with ATC. For the companies that provides the same flying operations in SE Asia. I guess there is (in Papua NG, in India, in Maldives... At least im sure of these ones...). I definitely recommend Susi Air. They have been my best years so far. I cant advice you for the other airlines because I dont know much about their conditions... Sory ! Good luck and Thanks

Pilatus have better STOL performances than the Caravan. For these kinds of operation (mountain with limited pax), no doubt PC-6.

I was a lucky guy indeed ! I'm back to Europe now ! For the training, in France we have a government subsidied Flight School. You can access it via an exam (28 places/year for 2500 applicants) based on Prep School level (bachalaureat +2 years).

Hello bang. So as a Pilot, I can technically affirm you that the fishing rod will fit in cargo Pod D (length available ~188 cm) without necessity of dismantling it. With low hours, expect low salary at the beginning. And very good (compared to cost of life) after Captain. But salary does not buy happiness, and living conditions in Susi Air are great anyway. They always hiring Pilots... even if a bit less expat nowadays.

Hello Danny. Well NO. They wont look at you... neither will do any companies in the world... Simply because "Private" Licence (PPL) means you can't be paid to fly... it's... illegal lol. You need a CPL IRSE. Regards

Hello AeroStudent S and thanks for checking my biography. Well... I am aerospace engineer indeed, but I only followed that path because I couldn't get my CPL earlier. And if you fail at becoming a Pilot, you need plan B, engineering was my safety net. But sincerely... isn't it better to play with the toy than to build a toy ;)?

Haha not everyone could afford the cost of flight training though, and getting the first job is said to be difficult..with a very low salary. I think I will stick to engineering job and try to be a glider pilot instead, as it is more financially realistic..and still fun

I agree with your statement. Pilot training requires lots of time and money. Some other options than self sponsored training exist in few countries though : Company sponsored program (Cadet program) may be one option. Public/State sponsored flight training school is another one... that I managed to get after many attempts and hard work. Otherwise you must work as an engineer and save money... that was the plan B. But I agree with you, glider is a fantastic experience, I got my solo glider licence... amazing flights. Have fun !

Of the company or the Country ? There is so much to say. For the company, they provide you accomodation, food, laundry, and salary. You sometimes have to adapt to their will, for sure, and move around the country (which I loved personnaly). But the schedule remains coherent ! For the country, it provides you with everything you dream of, diving with incredible animals, hiking volcano, camping in jungke with monkey...

we are going to sulawesi do you have any reccomendations to dive and how to get there because buying tickets is very difficult

2 main options for diving : - Pulau Bunaken, one of the top place for diving in Indonesia (haven't done myself...) * To get there : Ticket straight to Manado and boat from there - Pulau Togean, mix of white sand beach and average snorkeling/diving (done it, beautiful place, especially with the magical stingless jellyfish lake... unique in the world...) *To get there : harder... land in Gorontalo and Ferry boat (twice a week) to Pulau togean. Or from Ampana, more difficult, land in palu or tana toraja and take the bus... to Ampana Enjoy !
